To do or not to do, that is the question. Through the years I have heard both sides but I think that functional strength training is appropriate especially if you do self defense or compete or just because weight bearing exercise is good for you. It has been said that in the past that such exercise was not done but there now seems to be contrary evidence, its for you to decide. One program that you could possibly adapt from is the Michael Colgan's program, it includes many Tai Chi principles for the core. Read more in the General Exercise forum, the RKC program from Pavel T. may also work. Any other suggestions?
