Woooaahhhh, bloody expensive book eh (£65 in some places for a £18.00 rrp book )and quite rare for the first volume 😮
try this £8 for a day pass available on text and PDF.
😉
they are expensive and may be able to be sourced elsewhere, I would only recommend these for people who want a look at inside training that exists for some styles of Tai Chi.
I think the first book is enough, this string is to see how prevalent this training is. They say it
also provides alot of healing benefits and does not enlarge the heart as many exercises do.
Finally read the first book and most of the content i apply in my teaching as my teacher before me.
To have a true understanding of yourself you must be still. The stillness helps to build awareness and sensitivity. This also helps to reconise illness and weakness before it sets in to the channels so your health becomes a preventative journey. Once you have these attributes you can apply it to the martial aspects of Taiji.
I feel if you were to take two students and teach one the martial aspects and the other the stillness of wuji and standing practise the later would prevail in a dangerous situation as he would be more aware of his internal strength, centre of gravity and the external force of his opponent. He would need only minimal defensive training to be effective.
The trouble is you cant teach in this manner as the student will not understand and most need a physical element to learn, especially in the west.
This kind of training in needed more and more as life becomes busier and we are subjected to numerous external stimulants.
If you have a good understanding of the mechanics of the form then i think still practise will elevate your training to a new level its just most become bored and lack of patience hinders progress.
The only way to know is to train in this way so you can find out for your self.
