The voice is one of your first lines of interaction and self defense, although advanced it does seem possible to effect peoples action with the voice. The frequency of Yin & Yang whether making a low sound in our hollow guitar like bodies or a high stacatto sound with the use of the right words at the right time has basis, I think in Hypnosis and Lie Detectors and such books as The Gift of Fear by De Becker who gives you a new way to interpret threat signals and the sci fi movie "Dune" where useing the voice was fundamental to the story, although just a fictional story. I believe the Ninja also do this and in Kinesiology some words weaken muscles. Can Anyone else think of any other examples.
IMO one of the best books on this is "The Power of the Spoken Word" by Mark and Elizabeth Prophet. It does go into the subject in general, but then also a very specific use of the voice / throat chakra.
The point is, the voice, from the throat chakra, is the power of Creation, or to make things happen or manifest. The voice - along with all sound - is a physical or audible manifestation of the original Creative Force of the AUM.

Cant look it up at the moment but there is an (Shinto or Buddhist) exponant in Japan currently that uses his voice as a direct weapon... he practices by firing his voice at massive bell and makes it ring... projects it like a single 'shot' and the claims are that he physically stop people in their tracks, even knock them over but that it delivers a solid blow to the body.
That historically some Samurai had perfected this discpline and created differing sounds to do differrent jobs, one particular sound for example that would effectively rob the attacker of the desire to enter the fight etc..
There is also the obvious Qigong healing sounds and the power of mantras... I have no doubt that it's possible... as 'V' says "physical or audible manifistation of the original Creative Force of the AUM".
Yes, it's sound in general too. There are thousands of quotable examples e.g. in the Old Testament Jericho couldn't be taken by conventional seige. So then the seigers, under direction, marched around the walls, I think seven times (one for each of the seven pitches) playing certain instruments and drums in a certain way. The Bible records that the walls fell down. Some years ago I recall reading that archeologists believed they'd found the Jericho of that time - and its walls had collapsed - but, strangely, outward, not inward as from a seige.
However, as the voice is a sound that can have thought-forms of visualisation (shape and direction) and emotion (energy) attached to it, it can Create, Sustain, or un-Create anything. IMHO the human voice is a stepped-down version fo the creative AUM which shook all homogenous matter-energy into shape and form 'in the beginning', as in "Let there be Light!"
A major problem with the voice and with sound in general is also their misuse - as in negative music, negative speech, etc., which have a very real effect upon individuals and the world.

Great replies, as with anything it can be used for good or bad and good people should know it exists so they can recognize it if it is used against them. Countering its effects I imagine would be creating a personal sound of self(mantras, Omm) so to speak. Other examples are wrestlers practice there intimidation voice for the show and in some colleges they have been practicing shouting down the opposition and in Karate there have been stories of the Kiiaa shout as causing people to hesitate.
I heard on the news that science now says that after a study, romantically successful men were found to have a monotone voice in common. It seems women respond to a monotone voice.
I am learning some NLP that has a forum here, it seems to have power of the spoken word.
Hi JB
Would you include the Six Healing Sounds of Xu, He, Hu, Si, Chway, Xi used in Qigong within the Tao of the Voice?
Best Wishes
RP

It may seem a strange request, but I've a reason to ask. Did it just come to your mind, or where first did you hear the words put together; "power of the spoken word"?
Thanks,
V

LOL, I ust don't believe it. 😀 (Not getting at you personally at all, but the phrase, "after a study" 😀 ). Should all us males be practising this?
... or maybe we all already have it, unconsciously? 😮

Ya that monotone voice thing seems a bit boring? A female point of view on this would be helpful. I am just learning about NLP but they speak of the brain activity created by using action verbs in a sentence, I believe this is just a small part of their program. R.P., good point on the 6 sounds and we could also include yoga mantras as well.
I saw on TV a ship repelling weapon that uses sound to disable someone at a distance, I think that is now in use off Africa for the ship hijackers.
