I have recently added some Qigong walking into my classes and with my private clients. After reading some of the Lam Kam Chen literature on Da Cheng Chuan. I found this system very interesting.

I currently teach The Shaolin Ba Duan Jin system and a personal system of spinal health that i have put together from the bodywork systems i use.

Although the walking is found in the taiji systems does anyone else incorperate much walking practice?

I have spent the last week doing just walking routines for around 30 minutes in class, i found this to be very balancing and therapeutic for myself and my students.

Not only can you feel the different walks work on different parts of the spine but for overall balance they are very useful! and a very good way to instill energy for those that find it hard to hold a standing posture for very long.

Does anyone have any other tips, or methods similar they use?

Hi there,

I almost always include walking in my evening classes and workshops as well as my personal practice. Like you I find it very balancing and therapeutic, and a great way to be in the moment. Students love it even though it can be challenging.
I did my teacher training at the College of Elemental Chi Kung and we were taught loads of different walks.

Doreen 🙂

Ahhh after 3 months of searching i have finally found a new venue big enough to accommodate walking practice! Doing private lessons and 1-2-1 at the clinic have been lacking something!

If you are looking Doreen how did you get on with the Elemental School, i even though of looking to see if i could progress my training with them

Anyway happy walking everyone.

I enjoy my Bagua walking, I recommend Paul Cromptons book Walking Meditation. I will check that title and repost if its not correct, its off the top of my head.

Hi there,

Sorry for late post...I must have missed a notification.
I liked the College of Elemental Chi Kung, and would recommend them.

Warmest Doreen
