If you have a clicking shoulder where when you reach out and you here a clicking sound from a tight tendon sliding over a bony area. I eliminated this in my shoulder through the Tai Chi exercise I call swimming on dry land, I don't know the chinese name for it but it works none the less. This form of exercise is similar to what Pavel Tsatsouline describes in his book "Beyond Stretching" as ballistic flexibility drills for joint mobility and I suspect what it does is through a small amount of centrifical? force daily the tendons gain some of their youthful flexability.

I have this in both shoulders 🙁 and usually happens when swimming lol it drives me nuts, my neck and shoulders are tight through spondylosis so I guess this is why mine click, so annoying and can be quite painful at times.

I'm wondering if this is "Rolling the arms in a horse-riding stance" which is a little like the crawl swimming stroke

or"Row the boat in the centre of the lake" which is a butterfly stroke kind of movement,

Both these moves come from the shibashi, a series of 18 movements reputed to create health.

Although I do these more or less daily, my right shoulder still clicks, so I'd appreciate feedback ..............

Hi JOJO and David, I looked at the exercises on the website, it would be good to see them in video but from the description I think it is neither. I will attempt to describe, the feet should be alittle less than shouder width apart and the movement is driven by shifting the weight from one foot to the other and turning the waist, the unweighted foot may move up onto the ball of the foot. Looking to the right corner raise your right hand to that corner continue that motion as a backstroke as you twist to look in that direction, move slowly and extend. Allow the left hand to follow in that same direction up to the same corner making a large circle and as it comes down across and to the front left , turn left and now the right arm will be circling up and coming down into the left corner following the left arm as the keft arm continues up and to the left rear. Repeat as on the other side, each arm is describing a large figure eight. Then repeat the beginning but to the other side. You do the back stroke followed by the forward crawl stroke. I learne dthis exercise from Bow Sim Mark of Boston.

Thanks for that: I've tried several variations, but drowned each time;).

I think a video would be good, as you say. Perhaps I'll ask my teacher if he knows it.

In the meantime, if you come across the Chinese name, please let us know!
