Hello
I have decided to go for a sports massage course but they offer a level 4 diploma or certificate in sports massage . I have asked them what is the difference between these two courses and they said that in the diploma course would be included sports first aid , joint assessments and mobilisation.
How important do you think these extra parts would be and what situations would you need them in ?
Thank you
Sorry but I've not heard of a (UK regulated) level 4 diploma in sports massage?
To clarify, could you please say who says its "level 4"?
The training provider or ?
A training provider is free to call their own qualifications whatever they wish (and many do ie "level 5", "level 6" etc) but if is a UK regulated qualification then it will appear on this site and the true level will have been set by Ofqual
>>>>>>>>>>>>
ps joint assessments and joint mobilsation are in the Level 4 Certificate anyway
D/602/5341 Applying neuromuscular and soft tissue mobilisation techniques
H/602/5342 Conducting an objective physical assessment
note: the UK regulated (QCF) sports massage quals are currently being re-written. next year they will be very different...For better/ for worse? I'll let others decide
Hi, thanks for replying
The courses are with Active Health Group ().
Im not quite sure where to look on the ofqual site?
On the Ofqual website just click the qualifications tab and type sports massage in the title box.
It will then list all the current uk regulated sports massage qualifications
(note these are listed against the awarding body not the training provider)
My "guess" is that AHG deliver one of these qualifications and then add some more skills/knowledge content of their own (to give them a usp and provide additional value to the learner). The end result would be their qualification (titled as they see fit) with the UK regulated one embedded within it.
ie ?UK regulated sports massage cert + AHG additional input = AHG level 4 diploma?
This is quite a common practice with private training providers, since many feel that the regulated qual only represents the bare minimum requirements (ie: it does not include sports first aid)
IMHO AHG would be a good choice, but that is my opinion and I recommend you speak/ go visit them to find out for yourself
Good luck
