Hi all,
I want to know what you think about this one. As some of you are aware I have had problems with with my wrist following an undiagnosed scaphiod fracture from long ago. I have had surgery twice in the last fourteen months. I have not done any massage for some time but I did a bit yesterday, only neck and shoulders, nothing strenuous. At the time the wrist was fine but this morning it is bloody sore!
I suspect the writing is on the wall as far as continueing with massage but realistically what other options could I consider? Can some one practice sports therapy and injury rehab without doing massage?
Cheers

The physiotherapists seem to get by without massage, mind you that is good news for those who do practice massage. 😉

Heres a list of techniques you could use without too much pressure on your wrists:
Muscle Energy Technques
Joint Mobilisations (to some extent)
Trigger Points/Soft Tissue Release using elbows/forearms
Deep tissue massage using forearms and elbows
Ultrasound
Corrective exercise
Myofascial taping
Hot/cold therapy
There will be more im sure,
Some of the lighter touch therapies such as Emmett Technique and Bowen Therapy are gaining popularity with sports people - I see a number of runners, golfers and a few rugby players. No professionals yet - but some serious amateurs.
The pressure is light and may be worth exploring if you need a new modality.
Cheers
