Another goody is 'the seven levels of healing' by Phillipa Pullar and Lilla Bek - gives historical stuff as well.
and
'Hands-on spiritual healing' by Micahel Bradford - clear, no nonsense methods

RE: Spiritual Healing Books

The Harry Edwards books are a must read for anyone interested in healing, or any healer. The NFSH was started as a result of his work, probably the most known healer in the UK, who achieved amazing results. Will put down the name of the book I have (got to go downstairs and find it), but if you do a search on his name, I'm sure it will come up.

Oh wow Penny, tell us more, I bet she's got some stories to tell. If she doesn't mind perhaps she could share some experiences with us.

He has such a compassionate face, full of warmth and love.

RE: Spiritual Healing Books

Hi Rosi,
much as I would like to ask her, she passed over 10 years ago - my dad did 2 years later!
My gran on one side was a spiritualist medium and ran a church from her home. I have no conscious memories of it, but my dad told me about a seance once, where they had a heavy marble topped kitchen table in the middle of the room, and all the other paraphanalia they used to need to connect with the spirit world, like bells, red light and a trumpet. The lights went out, loads of banging, and they came back on. The extremely heavy table was upside down in the middle of the room, and no-one had moved.....................
I have been told that nowadays, we dont need such 'coarse' displays of spirit.
I didint know anything about any of this stuff until about 16 years ago.
So sorry, I know no more at the moment!

Hi Penny. I recently visitied the 're-opening ' of the refurbished Harry Edwards Sanctuary. It was a wonderful experience. They are planning a grand celebration for the jubilee year and are looking for any one who knew, or worked with Harry Edwards . .they are trying to compile anectdotes, evidential accounts etc. Maybe you would like to contact the sanctuary at Burrows Lea, I am sure they would be interested in your Mums experience

RE: Spiritual Healing Books

Which of these books would you recommend as a first book to read on the subject? I am really interested as since doing my Reiki masters, have started seeing more and would like to look into.

Thanks

RE: Spiritual Healing Books

I would recommend the Jack Angelo books, Sacred healing is the follow on book, they have another one (more basic), although the sacred healing book is more comprehensive and as you are a reiki master, their second book will be more appropriate.

Hi Starrie . . .i would also recommend the Jack Angelo Books, but I would also add to the list the Barbara Ann Brennan Books . .Hands of Light and Light Emerging . . .and the books by Carolyn Myss, particularly, 'The Anatomy of Spirit' and 'Why some people heal and others dont'. Carolyns work on the Chakras is very interesting, she also has some excellent CDs . .there are loads of exciting books out there . .some obviously more interesting than others . .and your own journey is the most exciting. Have fun . . .

I would recommend ThetaHealing by Vianna Stibal. It is a continuation from and incorporates information from her two previous books Go Up and Work with God and Go Up and See God. You will find a lot of amazing information about not only the technique but also Vianna's story which in itself is stunning.

Wow, that's a great list of book. As someone who is very interested in Native American way of life and spirituality, I shall be reading some of these.

Where do you suggest I begin?

While it depends on the level of knowledge you already have, I might recommend the following to start with...

"Fools Crow" - by Thomas E. Mails, Dallas Chief Eagle, and Frank Fools Crow; University of Nebraska Press, 1990

"Standing in the Light: A Lakota Way of Seeing" - by Severt Young Bear and Ronnie Theisz, University of Nebraska Press, Lincoln, NE, 1994

Walking With Grandfather: The Wisdom of Lakota Elders” – by Joseph Marshall III; Sounds True Inc., 2005
