Hi everyone,

I just wondered if anyone uses their healing energy during sex?

That was short and sweet 😀

I hope that isn't something your partner regularly says to you. 😀

In answer to your question, from my understanding of energy I wouldn't mix sex with it. Not saying that it is a bad thing to do, but I am not expertised enough to understand the ramifications of doing such a thing. I do know that from a traditional chinese medicine viewpoint, sex is not encouraged for people wanting to build up their energy. As a male, it is throwing energy away.

RE: Sex and healing energy

Hi darren,

I'm happy as a single person at the moment, but it has been said in the past [sm=rollaugh.gif][sm=rollaugh.gif]. Actually the reason why I mentioned it is because in Eastern Societies sex technique was taught and they are brilliant with energy. I have meditated in a class where the energy was bought into each chakra and the lady sitting next to me had a 'moment' - shall we put it like that - when we were working on the base chakra

From a male perspective by learning more about tantra and energy, you can have an orgasm without a release and can go for hours.

Best wishes

I do know that from a traditional chinese medicine viewpoint, sex is not encouraged for people wanting to build up their energy. As a male, it is throwing energy away.

That actually counts for real Hindu yoga too, basically. (Raising kundalini.) But the subject is a dicey one on a forum like this. [&:]When it comes up on HP and those into Eastern beliefs espouse control as being more healthy, we tend to have a misunderstanding with others saying, 'Are you calling it a sin? Are you repressed?' - when we're no prudes andit's really just about how energy really works.

There's that rather nice euphemism they have in Taoism: the monks were realistic enough as to realise that youthful intakes of new monks would be unlikely to be utterly celibate. On the other hand, as Darren says, they are convinced that, at least for men, you have longevity (healing energy) from self-control. It was considered particularly unhealthy for men who desire long lives - well over a hundred years - later in life. Sexual energy was equated with 'life energy', to be retained.

So the euphemism goes: monks in their 20s should 'visit the village shops' no more than once a week. In your 40s it gets to something like 'once a month' to the 'village shops'; and by the 60s it's something like, 'You have no need to leave the mountain more than every 2 months'. Less shopping by then. 😉

But there are reasonably credible accounts of Chinese Taoist monks, through a number of practices of which containment was only one, living to 150-200 in aerobically fit, excellent health, up to the 1940s at least.

From the little I know about tantra, I get the impression that the West has done the usual and put emphasis way over the top on sex. Great sages such as Ramakrishna were well-trained in tantric yoga, but it had nothing to do with having a partner, or with sexuality. (Ramakrishna was a life-long celibate.) Higher, and presumably 'real' tantra seems to be more along the lines of understanding universal energy-flow, and these energies within one's own body.

RE: Sex and healing energy

Buddhist monks and nuns at my local centre practice tantra and it clearly has nothing to do with sex as they are celibate.

I do Kundalini yoga and we are told not to visit the "village shops" more than once a month.

Since I'm presently living in what is virtually a village, I do have every excuse, daily!

RE: Sex and healing energy

Publisher,
I would question the “use” of healing energy in sex as the word use implies a conscious control. Why would you want to stand outside of yourself while engaging in sexual relationships?
However, if the question were along the lines of, “Is sex an expression of healing energy?” I would have to say that it is, absolutely. Healing is allowing all things that are not loving to be removed from your being. Sharing of yourself with another, entirely and lovingly, in the act of sex is certainly healthful and can be the highest form of healing!
In that case there is no loss of energy, but a renewal of relationship and of oneness. I guess it depends upon what the motive of the sex act is.

RE: Sex and healing energy

I took it that if you read the original thread post, the question was literally about the sex act, which unfortunately doesn't have to involve love or anything else that can be placed upon and with it. It's an act which people do, alas, engage in just on its own, as a physical action sans love at times.

Hi Holos,

I do know several people who use energy during sex and inmeditation too. I would guess that in western society we simply haven't explored the possibilies. We do astral travelling, advanced meditation, channel, reiki and all sorts of energy healing but we don't appear to have explored the potential of our own bodies vis a vis sex.

RE: Sex and healing energy

Briefly...
Energy, yes.
Healing energy, no.
The energy that is given through me when doing healing work is not mine to appropriate, and I don't have the final say over exactly how or where it works, either. It's a rather singular quality of energy and I have a feeling that I would regret it if I tried to use it for my own ends.
I don't mean to sound priggish, but I think there are other energies (primarily earth energies) that IMHOcould be incorporated far more successfully into sex.

RE: Sex and healing energy

Hi all

We have touched on tantra in our yoga lessons and from what I understand it is particularyimportant to conserve our sexual energy.By conserving this energy (through non ejaculation), this creative potentialcan be sublimninated andbrought into higher chakras therefore activating energies on a spiritual level........I think visiting the village shops (lol at expression!)is recommended once a week but without ejaculation. And there are many love making techniques/positions which help in raising this energy (including techniques that can be done on a daily basis out of the sexual context)- the result being a very spiritual experience during sex. Some tantrics believe this is the quickest way to connect with the higherself/god/energy.I am completely open to anyone correcting me on this and any clarifications would be great as I am unsure ofthe difference between kundalini and sexual energies.

This kind of leads me on to another question actually. If I remember rightly, we were told that menstruation was a form of energy loss for women. I also recall being told that a woman could sucessfully subliminte these energies and reduce her menstrual flow. I wonder if anybody has heard of this before?

Thanks and interesting thread!

RE: Sex and healing energy

Hi Kenb

Yes I have to be honest and I can't say I noticed any difference at all. One thing I will say is that since I started Yoga (18 months I think of daily practice) I seem to have lost interest for the most part. Considering that we are meant to be using the energy for a higher purpose I can sort of understand that but I do find it quite hard.

My partner also does yoga and, subsequently, neither of us really has the desire right now and I kind of miss it.

Donna,

Everyday is hard work! I guess that one has to just get the balance that is needed from all aspects of life. As long as you are happy with that balance, it could be other aspects of life that leave you tired.

Cheers

I'm with darrenfollowsthepath on this one. I never mix the two I become drained and in the past found that I became lethargic and my energy changed.

I didn't enjoy the new energy either & I attracted the wrong kind of people from it.
not sure how but they seemed to find me...perhaps it lowered the energy vibration & I became ill after a while .

.I got sick & I had chest pains in the end we gave up doing that. Fine for her

sheer hell for me.

😮 unsure

RE: Sex and healing energy

Hi, this is my understanding -

All Energy, Chi, is the Universal Life Force. We can survive on Chi alone, without oxygen and food, when we reach the highest levels of consciousness. You may have seen press reports of Yogis being found years after their 'deaths' with their bodies still in tact? You can read the end of An Autobiography of a Yogi to see that this was how Paramahansa Yogananda left his body.

‘Healing’ energy is Chi being called down to channel through us to specifically give healing to someone. Chi is also used during sex, it is the same Source of energy. There is nly one Energy - it's just how we use - or abuse - it! The moment of orgasm is when the energy is expended. Kundalini can be reached during sex but also outside of a sexual setting by learning to work with the energy – hencePublisher's fellow student’s experience when working with the base chakra.

Ancient Hindu teachings talkof a man making love to a woman but never actually 'releasing' -unless to procreate. The sexual act is purely to love his woman and honour her. In the West, sex has been trivialised and commercialised. Learning to work withChi during love making should be taught in school! 😮

In the meantime, there are many websites, courses, books and (dare I say?!) teaching videos available on Tantric Sex -as the name has been coined.

Tantra is a Sanskrit term. Sacred Hindu and Buddhist texts areknown as Tantras, and providedetailed instructions on a wide range of topics, including sex, spiritual knowledge, technology and science – Tantra is not a specific word relating to sex – it has been coined in the West.

Lastly, once we reach a certain level of consciousness, take Gandhi for example, sex becomes but a distraction on our spiritual path - because it's an attachment to the Earth plane. A nice distraction, but a distraction nevertheless! Andwe can lose interest in sex, along withother enjoyments in life when we work with the energy - but this is a phase - and enjoyment is usual found again. Don't be dispirited by temporary loss - it means you're doing well, although it can feel sad and disappointing because you're not enjoying what you used to, or what you think you 'should'! 🙂 Tantric Sex has to be 'learnt' - if you're interest has gone, you have to 'find' it again!

Lastly, lastly, it's all about Balance. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. And a little of what you fancy does you good! 😀

This is absolutely true, and it shows how primitive the West is when it comes to spirituality. All people here think Tantra means is sex! Ridiculous! As you say, it means much more.

On Gandhi, I think he also had other reasons for not going near his wife. :DShe was a total banshee, a screaming control-freak, which he kindly glosses over in his autobio. 😉

What an interesting thread. Must make a mental note to tell husband that a man of his age must not visit the "village shops" more than once a month. That will go down well![sm=rollaugh.gif]

RE: Sex and healing energy

all i can add is, that i have for the last 10 years ( at least) been in practice with tantra on the sexual level and mind level)....i have had a lot better time ,so to speak,....the building up of the universal energy these past few years..added to the tantra experience of getting to the moment.and then breathing and becoming one with the breath and each others breath, well, has been more experience-ful ,loveness and enlightenment, i thought was ever possibly conceivable through the art of love-making.

just wish i had thought about, and known about this in my younger years.....but must add....i'd probably be more of a Nympho than i am now.if i had known!!!!

i love sexual contact by the way,but also love the mind and the way it relates love....and the beat of my others heart, the eye contact when not looked for!!

RE: Sex and healing energy

Healing energy is life energy and sexual energy is life energy. When you invoke healing energy you invoke sexual energy anyway!

Healing sex can come in many forms. Intention is paramount. In practice, you can
a) dedicate the energy of your lovemaking to a spiritual cause,
b) slow down, relax, and feel deeply into the moment, in which case healing (which happens in the now) can occur,
c) utilise Tantric breathing practices... the possibilities are endless!

From my perspective, nowadays, healing sex is the most fulfilling way to go.
With best wishes
Priya

RE: Sex and healing energy

Hi 🙂

In my experiences with the use and manipulation of energy, I have found it very useful to use energy during intercouse. During, I flood myself and the other person with light and so keeping our energys up and in doing so don't get fatigue as fast, if at all. I've been manipulating energy for healing and other uses for around 6 years now and through life experiences I have grown in knowledge and strength.

I hope this answers your question but if not I would be happy to give you anymore furtheradvice. Just remember to live in the light and give as much as you possibly can.

RE: Sex and healing energy

is there any benefit to - during the moment of release - you focus on a deity in some fashion, or some symbol of that deity. I don't mean using the deity as "inspiration" for the act, but rather if you're in the act - surrendering that final "moment" to the deity. An example would be, as the deity that manifests for me is Kali - that upon the moment of release - to try and imagine in the mind's eye, a red hibiscus flower - which is said to be the favorite flower of Kali and to relinquish those final moments of enjoyment inregards to personal/ego enjoymentand thusly surrender it to the deity (i'm hoping i'm making sense).

I can't say this is something i've read or come across anywhere - but like most thingsin my life - it's a concept that just sort of floated it's way towards me.
