As a Sprirual Healer(also a Reiki practitioner) I do the following:

First I just do some cleansing and relaxationbreaths (as in yoga breathing)to let all the stress and worries roll off me and to start focusing/intending on sending healing

I connect to the 'universal' energies - imagine a white light around me - I then send a gold cord up to the universe to connect to the 'greatest energy' (as spiritual healing is not a religion you connect to whatever 'force' you are comfortable with)

When I feel the energy coming into me I ask that protection be placed around me (again I imagine the pure white light filling my aura and sometimes the whole room)and that all the healing energies sent is 'for the highest good of all concerned', I let this energy 'fill me up' - after that I feel the energy coming in - draw it down to my heart chakra and let it flow into both arms and out the palms of my hand (this to me confirms the intention of sending the healing with love and for the highest intent)

From this point it varies - if I was sending healing to a family member I either imagine them in their own home or I might take a photo and place it between my hands on on my lap. If it is somebody I don't know I will ask for the healing to go to 'Name' and if I know the town I might even mention that (I believe all of this is done as a kind of focus so here we all have to do as much or as little as we are comfortable with). When I first did my Reiki course we were told to use a teddy or a doll and to imagine this being the person - this does not work for me.

I imagine a bridge from myself going further and further away from me and connecting to this person (again sometimes I send the light out in front of me over the bridge) -I imagine the energy within myself leaving the room, going out the roof, into the sky, over towns/countries/continents or whereever untill it reaches it's destination

When I have 'connected' to the person I am sending the healing to I ask that their aura is filled with love and light and healing energy - imagining my hands in their aura and the light filling the aura. I imagine the person in front of me and 'scan' their bodies - if this does not give me a specific area to concentrate on then I will just imagine the energy filling their whole body. All the time I am sending this I make sure I feel the energy, ask for it to be send in love and for the highest good. When I feel that I am finished I again fill the aura with the intention that the energy is available to the person if they need it.

Must just add here that if I am sending healing to somebody I do not know (i.e. if somebody on these pages says please send healing to so and so) then I ask for the healing to go to them but if they(or their higher self) did not want this energy that it goes out into the world to where it is needed and wanted.

So I then imagine the bridge coming back to me, let the energy run through me for a while (at this stage I often get side tracked and start sending the energies to various situation within the world - this could befor people who were killed in bomb blast/tsunamis/wars/huricanes/droughts/starvation etc. I send this to people who have passed over to make their passing over easier, to people left behind, for people who are in less forunate situations to myself. Once you start this I find you find more and more people in need and eventually I imagine energy frommy hands spreading all over the world, covering it like a fine mesh/millions of little goldstrands etc. to go wherever it is needed.When I am finished I then draw back the golden cord (from the source)while I give words of thanks for the energies that were sent and received.

I am very passionate about healing and what can be done with it so I hope I did not bore you all to tears - this is just my way of sending healing and as I hear what other people

many thanks for you comments, you say you use protection why? on our course our tutor says you dont need protection, protection is for those whoe fear they need prtection if your asking for the healing to come from the highest possible source,
i dont know how you were trained, if you could clarify on the protection bit, when we disconnect from the source we put the client in a bibble of light then i put my self in a bubble of light,

Jo that was beautiful. I can tell you are are wonderful healer and I can resonate with your method. Keep it up!

Kevmos1, I think you need protection as when you move into the healing state you are more 'open', which can cause negative energies to come into you. Also, some say that if you are healing a person of a specific disease, you can take this onto yourself if not protected.

I would just add that it may be a good idea to ground oneself afterwards.

after your explanation of why protection is needed it would be pointless for me to elaborate. Great minds think alike......

Kevin - I think your bubble of light is very much the same as me putting light into the aura and I think it is a form of protection for both your and the person you are healing. On the training side I did my training through The Holistic Healing Association in Scotland - but I had already been doing Reiki for 3 years before that(also havea keen interest and open mind in all sorts of other healing methods as I think a lot of them enhance each other.)- also as what we learned was never 'cast in stone' as you have to learn to trust your intuition - this is not a way that is written down and used by everybody from the same organisation.

Good thinking about the grounding, slipped my mind in the middel of the night but a very important issue.

Of for a lazy day at the health centre - jacuzzi, sauna, steamroom and reading my Reiki magazine which arrived yesterday. Hope you all have a lovely relaxed day as well.

I have been in constant physical pain for fifteen years. I have tried everything to no avail. Natural as well as pharmacutecal products. I am at my wits end. I can't do a lot of social things anymore, such as dancing as I am so delicate I am afriad of being hurt. The same goes when I travel on a bus or car, a simple bump in the road causes me such agony or even if someone accidently pushes by me. My life is becoming one long pain in the neck(literally) I am losing Lordosis and am very self concious about my neck starting to protude forward and down. I hardly think this is appealing to the opposite sex. I am not even old. I wondered if spritual healing could help, along with some luck in getting back to work and earning a living. Life is very boring when you are on a low budget and have to stay in all day alone because going out is painful. I thank you if you could help me. I am indeed a spiritual person myself and try to help other peolple but don't seem to be able to solve my own dilemma..

Grizelda, if you can possibly get yourself along to the spiritualist church in your area,you may find they have healing evenings or afternoons it depends how they work really. But you can give a small donation, at our church it's a pound at the least or free if there is financial considerations. If you find it too difficult to get there, see if you can find the Spiritualist church number and ring and ask if a healer could call round, you could pay toward their travel to you if they need anything, but I'm sure if you explain your circumstances they will understand.
