RE: Yu points

Thanks JB. Great site!

Do you have any "stories" for the order of the Yu points? Something like: Little (Lu) Harry (HP) Hopped (Ht)... I was told once a nice one but forgot it!

Artemis, If you remember the ditty please pass it on. At school I was hoping someone had one, but alas no.

RE: Yu points

I don't know a ditty, but I used to remember them when I was a student by relating them to the order of the organs as they lie anatomically, going from top to bottom.
i.e. imagine you were scanning down through the body, you'd first get the Lungs, then you'd reach the top of the PC before getting to the Heart etc etc.
The only one that doesn't fit at all is the TB (SJ), but I just used to remember that one!
Kidneys don't exactly work out either, but if you relate them to the lower jiao, then it's going to fit. (Sorry, terminology might be different, hope you know what I mean).
OK, so it's not perfect, but it helped me in a couple of exams!

Cheers

Aragron, I know what you mean, but anatomically how do you decide of liver is lower than the stomach? And St lower than Sp?

RE: Yu points

Indeed! The whole thing is a bit tentative, but it helped me in the past!
Going top to bottom anatomically, the Liver is higher than the Stomach, so that works out. The Stomach is higher than the Spleen, so that works out.
The Gallbladder, mind you, is lower than the St and Sp, but if you remember it's paired to the Liver, then that should help! This is all assuming that Shu points in Chinese medicine are in the same order as Yu points in Shiatsu:eek:

I remember at college, how students came up with the most extraordinary ways of remembering all the Chinese medicine theory. This one has to be the most tame!

Best wishes

RE: Yu points

here are a few associations i used to get some of them into my head.....

Lu starts it off - highest "organ" in the body.
HP above HT - HP "protects" the heart.....

When you get to Liv - it goes Yin Organ, Yang Organ, Yin Organ, Yang Organ.....Wood and Earth - so Liv,GB, Spleen, ST (Wood controls Earth in five element theory)

TH above Kid because TH "mobilises the original Qi" from the Kidneys.
Kidneys at BL23....between Lumber 2 and 3....23 🙂

Bladder - lowest hara diagnosis area, also the lowest Yu point and lowest Bo point.
Small intesting is just above Bladder - both in Yu and Bo points.

just some random bits that helped me.
