Hi there,

I'd like to start the 3 years' course in Shiatsu next September but I'm not sure in which school. Since I am based in London, I was originally thinking of the European Shiatsu school as I know that it has a great reputarion. I also did some research on other schools listed in the shiatsu organization website. I was just wondering if any of you would have any suggestions, I would highly appreciate.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Nati,

I did my certificate course in Shiatsu at the Zen school of shiatsu. They are very friendly and have open evenings, so you can go along and see and feel for yourself. When you are there you will know whether it is right for you or not.
It was one of my best decisions.

Check out their web site -

P.S. they are in London

Hi Nati,

The ESS is strong on Traditional Chinese Medicine. But they are a big school and the personal touch can be lost at times. I have PMed you.

Have you checked the Shiatsu College?

I'm thinking of starting training for Shiatsu practitioner in the new year and have thought about the London School of Shiatsu.

Does anyone have any experience with them?

Many thanks

Hi Dorthe - if you mean the London College of Shiatsu in Hammersmith - they are very nice. I don't study with them, but i did consider changing to their school at one point during my training. I spoke with Nik and Veronica a fair bit and they let me attend a class to get a feel for their style. They were very friendly and I thought Nik was a good teacher.

I suggest you go and meet them and see if you get on with them. In fact try meeting teachers from all the schools you are considering - maybe at practice classes if they have them or ask if you can drop into a beginner class (every school that i contacted was happy for me to go round to meet the teachers and see a little of their teaching style). It is a three year course so you need to be happy with the dynamic you will have with your teachers. good luck with your studies. 🙂

RE: Learning Shiatsu in London

Hi, just thought I'd join in here... (not based in London though)

I plan to start studying shiatsu this year, & am going to an introductory day at the Marlborough branch of the ESS this Saturday.

Can any one recommend the Marlborough branch? I would be interested in any other feedback on the ESS as a whole too.

Many thanks.
Regards,
Anita.
