I have heard some comments that Europe is adopting the AOBTA and that they could do better creating something more involving Shiatsu, from what I have heard it is more written for Massage therapists/ Acupuncturists and Shiatsu should have its own identity. There are currently great Shiatsu people who do not use meridians to do their work and they are from differtent traditions but it is Shiatsu all the same.
