I went yesterday and did my Reiki Level 1 attunement, I thoroughly enjoyed it although I can't honestly say that I could "feel" or sense anything, apart from being relaxed.

My Reiki Master was lovely and she said that it was probably down to the fact that I'm new to it and once I practise more then the vibrational energies will rise and I'll be able to sense it then.

I did some Reiki on my baby this morning (My Reiki Master said its safe) and also my cat (my hubby is a total sceptic so won't let me anywhere near him!) and I'm gonna do myself before I go to bed to hopefully get a headstart.

Wish me luck. xxx

Well done Donna3939, you must be feeling very proud.

A good way to help with your Reiki is to find out if there are any Reiki shares in your area so that you can practise on the group.

This is something which I and my friend encourage healers to do as it helps build there confidence and keep their Reiki energy going.

We do a Reiki drop in clinic every week and have a lot of level one and two healers who practise on each other and they all love this.

I wish you lots of luck in the future.:FIFangel:

well done Donna! i'm following stories like yours with interest because i'll be doing my Reiki 1 very soon and am wondering what it will be like. I'm keen to try the self-healing and also try on my cat and partner. Do let us know how you go on 🙂

Best achievement for me in a long time!!

Just wish my boyf would let me near him with it too but I respect his wishes.

My cat sits between my knees when I Reiki myself.:cat:

A good way to help with your Reiki is to find out if there are any Reiki shares in your area so that you can practise on the group.

Hi Margery, I am actually going to a Reiki share which my Master Teacher arranges. Although I had to travel a few miles to do my attunement I don't mind the distance at all as I feel its right for me.

My Master Teacher has a Reiki share every 6 weeks at her local community hall. Healers of all levels attend (the Masters to help the Level 1 and 2s) for us all to mingle and work with people who are on a different Reiki level.

My first share is on the 29th March. I can't wait. I think mixing with people will help in my development.

***********

Although I'm doing Reiki everyday, I can't feel anything. I have no cold spots, warm spots, my hands don't tingle. Nothing. I just have to keep trying and hope for the best.

I actually have 3 cats (and 2 dogs!) but the cat I have been performing the Reiki on is VERY nervous (I have no idea why - she was such a boisterous playful kitten) and she always shys away from us. She even ducks if we go to give her a stroke. These past few days though she's been coming to sleep next to me and its while she's been asleep that I have been doing the Reiki. I am doing it for the purpose of trying to heal what mental and emotional problems she has to be so nervous. I hope it works.

Hiya

Don't worry if you can't feel anything. Many people (including my Reiki master) can't. Sometimes I can't. It doesn't matter, you only have to trust that the Reiki is flowing.

Cats - well they love it or hate it, it seems. One of my cats was in the room when I received my Level 2 attunement and he loves Reiki! The one who died last November didn't like it and would get up whenever I tried to give her any. The most important thing is the self-healing: make sure you do a self-healing session every day.

Good luck on your journey!

Hi, congratulations!

My cat is fickle, sometimes he loves it sometimes he hates it. I'm lucky my partner was open minded enough to give it a try and he thinks there is something to it now, which has increased my confidence in reiki too! Agree with the above, practice practice practice, go to shares and meetings, this is the start fo the journey for you and we are all still learning with this energy that is reiki.

I am going to be giving reiki treatments to my boyfirend's father soon, he is very ill so it will be an honour for me if I can help him in any way at the moment (I will be treating his mum for the stress too!). I am nervous though and worried he may not feel anything or notice any benefit, but I will never know unless I try and I know I must trust reiki to do its thing even if neither of us feel anything happening!

Let us know how you get on.

hi
i recently did reiki 1 too. I've done a few self treatments so far and a couple on friends but nobody has reported feeling anything at all so I have to say Im panicking as to whether its working or if I'm doing something wrong. Do you get better the more you do it or should it be there from the minute you receive attunements?? Whilst doing the course I felt stuff happening but nothing since I came home. Previously every reiki treatment I've had I've felt loads happening to me but feel disappointed that my two friends have felt nothin although one is adamant nothing will happen so don't even know if they'd admit if it did!! I've been asked if I'd like to do reiki 2 quite soon but I have to say I'd like to feel like I'd made progress before doing this and I don't know how to judge this if my recipients feel nothing or observe any benefits from the treatment.

There are differing opinions on the differences between level 1 and 2 Reiki. Some people say that a student can channel the same energy at level 1 as they can at level 2. This is not something I believe and my experience as a Reiki teacher proves this to me with every student I teach. There is a tremendous difference between level 1 Reiki and level 2 Reiki. At level 1 the student will be channelling high frequency Rei energy, which is hard to sense or feel for most people. This energy works on the spiritual body and to primarily relax and calm. At level 2 the student will be able through the use of the shirushi/kotodama/jumon to channel lower frequency energy that works directly on the physical and emotional bodies. This energy is much easier to sense and feel and the effects are more noticeable. I always tell students not to expect too much from their level 1 healing and to not be disappointed if other people will not feel a great deal. Once they have done their level 2 then people will feel the energy and its effects more strongly. This is one of the reasons why I prefer to teach Reiki 1 and 2 as a single course, which is much more beneficial to the students. Level 1 on its own is not enough to really understand or use Reiki, it is one half (Rei) of Reiki.

I forgot to add...
There are some people that are very natural healers who can do amazing healing work with little or no training in Reiki or any thing else.

I agree, Omega1, there are people who are natural healers, and I myself am one. However, I only rediscovered this ability after I'd done my Reiki 1. I also agree about the Level 2 symbols giving you the ability to use different "frequencies" of Reiki for different purposes. However, I don't teach Levels 1 and 2 together, and the reason for this is that most people I come across have yet to develop their spiritual channel, and self-healing at Level 1 is the way to do this.

To those who don't feel anything at Level 1, I say you need to do your self-healing every night (or day) and that will help you develop your spiritual channel. "Feeling" comes in different ways: it can be seeing, hearing, smelling... the sense of touch is only one way in which we can sense Reiki or spirit. I saw the most amazing colours during my Level 1 attunement, and I still see shimmering, changing colours. I also started to get smells: I once smelt Fisherman's Friends, pipe tobacco and dogs, and when I told my client that, she told me about her grandfather who consumed FF's like they were smarties, smoked a pipe and kept dogs!

If people don't "feel anything", this may be because the Reiki is going to somewhere that needs healing that isn't in their physical body but in their aura, past life, or situation. Ask your friends if things have changed for them since you gave them Reiki.

I'm reminded of the quote "To those who believe, no proof is necessary: to those who don't, no proof is possible".

oh thanks for those comments - i think I'm finding this more helpful than the course i did. Other than the attunements and learning the positions I was only handed a manual to read at home - and rest of time just seemed to be wasted chatting!! I did ask a lot of questions but got very vague answers. I think I probably could've learnt what I did in just over half a day rather than over the 2 days I was there. I've always felt so much myself from people giving ME reiki and I want other people to benefit too - so your reassurances and advice have really helped - thanks - and knowing that the "strength" of the reiki increase after level 2 is nice to know.
