Hi All, spoke to another reiki master yesterday, she mentioned that putting in the Raku when attuning can be dangerous, it made her student really depressed, so now i would like other peoples opinion on this. She also said that the tibetan Dai ko mio already has the Raku in it so basically they are getting a double whammy of it, hmm not sure myself can someone enlighten me please..love and blessings xx
Hiya
I don't put the Raku in the aura when attuning anyone, I just use it to separate the auras and ground the energies at the end of the attunement process. I thought that was the way I was taught but now you've got me wondering and I shall have to go back to my course notes!
Ha, had me running for my course notes as well as I only had my Masters initiation in September! To me Raku was only taught as part of the Tibetian DKM, and is not used as a separate symbol. Maybe this comes back to so many differences in different kinds of Reiki and so many additional and different symbols, also our own belief systems.
As soon as somebody uses the word Reiki and dangerous is one sentence, my hackles go up!:speechless-smiley-0 soo, I'm not going to go down there on this peaceful Sunday afternoon! Just a question - you say 'her student' - was it only 1? How many people has she initiated? How does she know that this is what made the student depressed?????
I think what you have to do is what you are doing now. Get more information, question it from all angles, think about it, meditate on it or whatever. Then trust your intuition and make up your own mind as to what feels right for you - to me this is how we grow.
Hiya all
Like Chris I was taught to use Raku to separate the aura and ground the energies, But I use it at the end of any session, be it healing or attuning.

Thank you for your replies, im not sure how many she attuned with the raku, in my attunement notes it says to put into hands(thats only for masters level) and also disconnect the aura drawing on the back..ive researched this afternoon and read you can use it in healing!.would you?? x
Raku is used for attunements according to some lineages:
However Raku is not part of the original japanese reiki symbols but one of the later wester add-ons.
I've just looked in William Lee Rands Reiki Master manual as I thought it was one of his, but I was mistaken. I know I've come across it from one of the lineages of teachings I've seen.

Hi Giles yes it is used in the Karuna Ki modality:
Raku is used in passing attunements, but not in individual healings. Raku helps to lift negative Karma, and takes the initiate to higher levels of consciousness. It activates the Hara Line and brings Reiki energy in through the Ki channels, and grounds it in the Hara. It is used at the end of an attunements in Karuna Ki Do to separate the auras of the master and the student. Raku is an initiatory symbol.
It is also used as part of the MPRUE and Shambala MDH attunement rituals, and an adaptation in the form of the Motor-Zanon to remove negativity.
It is also used in the Tibetan Reiki modality, that is all I can find in my manuals at the moment 🙂
Like others, I end each attunement with Raku down the spine to ground the energies. I've never had a student become depressed as a result of working with Raku during Reiki tuition. Could the whole attunement process of brought the underlying depressive symptoms closer to the surface so they could be healed?
As Jobelle suggests so helpfully above, gather further information and analyse it from different angles. Just because we're doing intuitive energy work doesn't mean we leave our logic outside by the doorstep.
I work with Raku if a client isn't feeling grounded enough at the end of their treatment. It's been great for clients who have a tendency to go off travelling elsewhere - there are immediately two clients who do this that come to mind and it works a treat with both especially when I say their name firmly out loud at the same time with other hand on shoulder.
I use the Raku symbol at the end of every healing session I do and every attunement, to separate my energies from my student's, and also to ground the energies... it definitely works... it's good for cutting etheric cords too.
ok thank you all for your comments....love and blessings x
Hi There,
I was taught to use the raku to end the attunment to separate the master from pupil right at the end of the attunment, as your energies are entwined during the process, the masters extra energetic charge is used to facilitate the initiation. The raku is not placed in the attunee with the other symbols but used to complete the process & separate master from student energetically at the end. This has been trouble free for me as a teacher for the last 10yrs. Although I doubt if placing it in with the other symbols would cause any great harm, I would guess that to be a clearing process after the attunment in which case reassurance from his/her master or another is appropriate.
