Hi,
I wonder if you could help me with a few answer... I am very interested in Reiki. I had my Reiki Level 1 attunement approx a month ago. I am not sure about a few things, and have a few doubts as well... would somebody help me out please?
1) I did not really feel anything during the attunements (the master teacher followed the traditional way, i.e. 4x attunements for level 1 on the same day). I did not see colors, did not feel anything special, did not sense my chakras, nor anything else many people tell about. Is that normal? The only thing I felt is the enormous heat coming from my master teacher.
2) When I do reiki on myself or on my wife me/she do/does not feel anything special, except for some warmth coming from my hands. Neither of us feel anything is happening really. Is that normal?
3) Do you think (based on the above) that my attunement was successful? Should I go to another Reiki 1 attuement to antoher master teacher? Or should I go to Reiki 2 straight some time (months, I guess) later?
4) If my Reiki 1 attunement was successful, and I repeat the Reiki 1 attunement, does it cause any problem. With other words, what happens if somebody receives Reiki 1 attuenement twice?
5) If my Reiki 1 attunement was not successful, and I go for Reiki 2 attunement, what happens? Will Reiki 2 work at all then?
Thank you

Don't worry!

I didn't experience anything much on my attunements even though there were those around me who were describing fantastic visions, all manner of sensations etc.

This is why I tell my students & my clients they may not sense anything but the Reiki is there and it is working, maybe in subtle ways.

What you need to do is use it (for want of a better phrase) to strengthen your connection to it, but most of all just trust it! 😀

Hi Zeta ..

Yer don't get too hung up on what is felt . At times I feel as if fireworks are going off all around me lol and yet the patient feels very little and then I can feel very little and yet the patient is tripping out hahaha ..

I think there is a lot of hype regarding what sensations are felt .. It's a myth in that the hotter one's hands are the better the healing is .. or the more energy one is able to channel . I have an understanding that certain things are felt or not felt depending on what the patient needs energetically speaking .

x dazzle x

Hi,

I am currently reading The Essence of Reiki The Essence of Reiki: The Definitive Guide to Usui Reiki: Amazon.co.uk: Dawn Mellowship, Andy Chrysostomou: Books which is fantastic and may help your understanding of Reiki.

I echo what has been said before, sometimes I feel lots and the person I am treating doesn't or vice versa. Intention and visualisation according to the Essence of Reiki is key - from what I have been taught you can be attuned more than once and it won't have a negative effect.

Trust yourself - I am sure you are doing just fine. 😀

Hi Zeta,

As everyone else has said the most important thing is to trust. Relax and enjoy the Reiki 🙂 It's is a very personal experience and it's as much about how it helps you develop as a person as it is about sharing the healing energy with others.

After my Reiki 1 I could really feel the energy in a big way. Very obvious feelings and sensations. However after my Reiki 2 a few months later I found that the sensations became very subtle. So having your Reiki 2 attunement doesn't mean you'll necessarily feel more.

My partner has just come through his clearing for his Reiki 1. He, like you, can't feel very much and finds it disheartening. The same person carried out his attunements as mine, there was nothing wrong with the technique, it's just we're all different.

It is also possible to have more than one attunement for the different levels of Reiki. Again however, it won't necessarily give you what you are looking for which is that reassurance.

Much better to trust and keep using it. I would give the energy to my house plants and those in the garden just so I could practice more.

Anyway, hope that makes sense and answers some of your questions.

Hi,

I have found from experience that each student will perceive the energy when being attuned and when giving/receiving treatments in the way that is appropriate for them at each occasion. We are all individual with our own path, and we all experience life from our own perspective.

With regards to the attunement and treatment:
The process used is key and as long as this is done in accordance with the style of Reiki and with good focus and intention/visualisation then the attunement/treatment will be effective.

What the recipient of the attunement/treatment feels will depend on a number of factors, such as their sensitivity to energy, how much energy they need, their personal circumstances at the time... etc But, their sense or lack of sense of the energy makes no difference to how the energy is flowing and working.

So bottom line is work in accordance with the style of Reiki you were taught, stay focused and concentrate on what you are doing and know that the energy is working regardless of any sensations felt or not felt.

I have found that students that are not very sensitive to energy flow at level 1 tend to be more sensitive when they take level 2 due to the different way of working at level 2. Also through self-healing students can develop greater sensitivity. By self-healing 4 or 5 times in one day, by the 4th or 5th treatment the energy becomes much easier to feel.

I'm glad you like our book 🙂

I odn't know for sure if this is right but I suspect that sometimes the level of what peole feel experiencing reiki healing may be linked to how ill they are.

I say this becaue of my first experience of receiving reiki in thailand. I was very ill, had some kind of parasite or something and hadn't been able to eat almost anything for two weeks, and had a costant burbling in my stomach at a certain point.

At first I was a bit skeptical and didn't feel anything for maybe 1/2 hour. Then I began to feel symptoms of something being sucked through my body (I'm guessing this feeling is energy beginning to flow in blocked meridians or energy lines?)

Then as she reached my stomach in the point where the burbling was (Is uspect a parasite was there) my whole body spasmed! and all the burbling began to spread out, giving me wind. Even the reiki practitioner was surprised at the violent reaction which lasted a for quite a few sessions.

Anyway I had reiki again later when I wasn't very well but not like that. I did sometimes get the straw like sensation, but nothing so powerful - was this that the other lady was better, or that i was just sicker before? That's what I wonder..

I'm now attuned to level 1 and at first felt a bit like you. I wouldn't say I have supreme confidence in my abilities but I do feel more sure of it and reiki, and now I feel ready to do level 2. I feel it will be offered to me soon by someone as well but we will see.

Hope that helps!

That is a good point. The more ill the receiver is, the more energy they need and the more energy will flow so yes, it is likely they will feel the energy and the effects of the energy more strongly.

I recently received Reiki Level 1 attunement. Even I did not experience much during the process and was wondering about the same. Thank you for such clarity and guidance. I feel more confident now.
