hi all,

i was doing some research because, as always, there are differing ideas...

how many pillars and how many noble truths? i ask, because as part of the ITEC curriculum, there are 5 noble truths...

anyone care to expand on the symbols and how they associate/ compare with sacred geometry?

cheers!

Hi ya Rosie

There are 3 pillars of Reiki: Gassho, Reiji, and Chiryo.

The 5 noble truths are the 5 Reiki principles.

As for symbols, that's a hard one. I think they are trying put across how form creates function. Sacred geometry symbols have resonance therefore power, but Reiki symbols are put into the aura (so it is said) in the attunements for Reiki use. Just an idea.

Cheers

hi dave,

hmmm, well, see, i can only find reference to 4 noble truths, being east, west, north and south (okok, on one website!) but nowhere have i see reference to 5.

i would have thought the 5 principles/ precepts are just that, the noble truths being something else.

(i'm not about to do the ITEC thing, that was just a referral point!)

i have no idea why ITEC should be bringing sacred geometry into it... lol but then they have a lot of teaching hours to fill :p.

thanks.

Hi Rosie

I have spoken to ITEC in the past and it is the 5 Reiki principles. I'm surprised that they are still using that term with the new syllabus.

Unfortunately with any CAM syllabus, there is always extra padding for the guided learning hours.

Best Wishes

There certianly seems to be a lot of padding in the ITEC course! So much for the simplicity of Reiki. Is any attempt made to point out what is actually part of Reiki and what is padding?

I agree that it's odd they use the term 'noble truths' as this is a term mostly used in Buddhist teachings, for which there are Four Noble Truths.

As the question is in relation to Reiki, it can only be assumed it is referring the the 5 reiki principles/precepts... Just for today....

Hi ya BF

Well an experienced Reiki teacher should know the difference between Reiki and padding. If they don't then they shouldn't be teaching this or any other level 3 diploma course. Teaching in a private or public-funded FE college is a big commitment.

A lot of people don't like the idea of a ITEC Reiki course. No one says you should have to do it. It's personal choice, like picking the right Reiki teacher in the first place, which ever path you choose. How many types of Reiki is there these days???!!!!!

As a tutor that had to re-teach other teachers' students and given much personal advice to other Reiki practitioners about Reiki practice, may be we all should be aware of improving our standards.

May be ITEC Reiki is over the top, and may be an one day Reiki 1 workshop is pathetic. May be the balance is somewhere in the middle!

Best Wishes

You sound very defensive here, didn't mean to upset you RP. I'm sure you are brilliant at teaching Reiki but not everyone is like yourself. I know of Reiki courses where everything (including the padding) is taught as essential for Reiki and like you am frequently reteaching confused students so do know what I am talking about.

Hi ya BF

No not a problem. I'm having fun, giving it some welly! :dft012:

I have to admit though that if I don't give a comprehensive reply to such Reiki issue, then other HP'ers will start splitting hairs.

Glad that you are upholding good Reiki standards.

Best Wishes
