Mum and Baby Group

I thought I would share with you all the fantastic time I had yesterday giving a talk to a local Mother and Baby group. I had been invited by the clinic to give the talk but wasn't quite sure what to expect!

There were 8 mums and their gorgeous babies ranging from 4-7 months. They were sitting with them on the play mats and it was so wonderful to engage these little souls by looking at them and seeing great big smiles break out, it was like an epedemic lol!
I shared with the mum's what I love to do around supermarkets or walking down the street. If I see a baby sitting in a trolley/buggey I just make very brief eye contact and they 'lock in' immediatley! It's fantastic seeing the grins and smiles and how they really try to twist and turn to watch me walking away lol. I think it's fantastic that they can 'see' the energy around me and respond to it.

During the talk one of the babies became tired and fractious and poor mum was getting a bit stressed out because people couldn't hear what I was saying so I went over and asked if I could give her baby a cuddle? She handed her baby to me and as soon as I held her against my chest she stopped crying immediatley and started smiling lol. Mum was amazed as she didn't settle with strangers and the other mum's asked if I was available for hire at night!! I carried on talking and holding this beautiful little girl and within minutes she was asleep.
At this point the little one being held by her mum next to me started crying loudly so I passed the first baby back to mum and cuddled the next one and that is how the afternoon went lol! I eventually cuddled 5 out of the 8 while giving my talk and it felt just wonderful to be holding a baby again after all this time. My shirt was damp with baby dribble by the time I left.

I then took a chair out of the room into a quieter part of the clinic and offered 10 min 'tasters' to any mum who wanted to have a go. I then proceeded to see all of them! They felt ok to leave their baby with the other mum's to come to me which helped them to relax a bit more. Each one felt "something" which was a surprise to some of the more skeptical ones!

It was a lovely afternoon of sharing and I felt so lucky to be part of it.
