This has turned out tobe a pretty controversial topic, so I'm sure you'll get some different views. If you search the forum, you'll fine other very long strings on this very topic.

I've had attunements through the master level in person and remotely. They both work. Because of the nature of remote attunement, one tends not to develop a student-teacher relationship with the Reiki master who attunes them, which is a greatdisadvantage if you are not an experienced Reiki healer, or want that relationship as part of your journey.The other disadvantage is that it's harder to get a sense of the person, so youare somewhat taking your chances. However this is also true for in-person attunements:thousands of people have had not-too-good Reiki teachers. Caveat emptor in both cases.

If you are a fan of the ritual and tradition built intoReiki, then in-person attunementswould be better for you.

I'm curious as to what led you to look for attunements on e-bay of all places?
There are many free grouplists (dozens of yahoo groups) which offerfree attunement to several very effective and powerful systems. Reiki Nur Ilahi,World ReikiUniversity, and SOKAISI arethree that are legitimate with no-kidding powerful attunements, and their group owners have integrity. Again, caveat emptor.

Distance isonly relevant in the physical realm and does not have a counterpart in the energy oneness, personally I prefer remote attunements as you can receive them in your own space where you are most relaxed, it will depend on where you are in your own spiritual journey aswell as how goodthe instructions that come with them as to how useful they are to you 🙂

I have experienced attunements with both methods. I can honestly say that distant attunements DO work and it was a wonderful experience for me. I also enjoyed the in-person attunements as well and through these I am involved with the local reiki community with Reiki shares etc.
I have been lucky, where BOTH reiki masters have been wonderfully supportive and I can call on either one for support and always get an answer.
The only reservation I would have about distant attunements is that it has the potential to be an insular journey. It is good for your development to get involved with reiki shares and meet other people along the way - but you can still do this with a distant attunement, you just have to seek it out!!

I agree with what you all say about it being important to have a Reiki Master 'in person' and to take part in Reiki shares.

I am already attuned to Usui Reiki levels 1&2 and am very good friends with my Reiki Master. I am also already part of a good Reiki community who meet up once a month for group healing and discussion so I think I've already got that side of things covered and I agree they are vital elementsof my Reiki practice.

If you believe that distance healing is possible, then of course distance attunements are possible. 😉

I received my Gaia Now attunement from our very own Paul Crick (I see he has already answered :D), and I know that that has worked.

Other attunements I have received in person, but that's because that is the way I prefer it. I would rather be there and be able to ask questions etc.

Yes IMO distant attunements do work.

But my own reservation, would be the genuinessof the source of that attunement.

My reservation is always the teaching side ... attunements should be
the beginning of the story and not the end ... and also the support
especially during the cleansing period.

I've actually just purchaseda Shamanic Reikiattunementon E Bay and am soon to arrange the time for it. I'm already attuned to Usui Reiki 1&2 the usual way. I just want to see what will happen. Will it work etc. I figure that if you can send distant healing why not a distant attunement.

Does anyone have experience of this. If so what happened?

if you want a Distant attunement the best one i have seen is Garry Malones he has web site called the essence of reiki it cost $69 that is £36 and what you get is the Essence of Reiki Manual 1,2 and 3 Reiki Meditation to download and listen to also reiki email support and at £36 i thought that was a bargain also you can book a time and place for your distant attunement, Garry Malone and his wife Adele have been Rieki Masters for 10 years and they are based in London.
