Hi there,
I would like to train in reflexology but my nearest training provider is over 100 miles away as I live in a very remote and rural area. I have seen a course that is distance learning (online) with a one day practical assessment (I know this is not ideal however I have a biology degree and I'm very confident with the A&P aspect) the course is accredited by the Beauty Guild (it's a Guild Training International course) so I wonder can anyone tell me whether this would be a good course to do? my other option is a 6 month long course that is a weekend per month (which has huge financial costs with travel, accommodation as well as a much larger training cost) Any advice appreciated
Few people on this site will recommend distance learning, but you could do the course you mention as a 'taster' perhaps? To be honest, if you want to try and make a business out of reflexology or any form of body work, classroom learning is the only way to progress. I started comp therapy training in 1977, when there were no therapy classes available in FE colleges - I had to travel from Scotland to London. It took 18 months (three days per month in class, homework sent to a tutor in between) to become a massage therapist. Other courses I have done involved travelling to Austria from Scotland. It hasn't been easy, but it is now my career, and I have a fantastic client base. Many of the therapists I have come across, and mentored, over the years who have done short courses/distance learning, do not last long, sadly.

Thank you so much for your reply. Perhaps you are right - the distance course could maybe be looked at as a starting point to see if I enjoy it before fully committing to a longer more expensive one - I have a little girl so there isn't the option to commit to a longer course right now whilst she is little
