RE: reflexology and weightloss

Hi Periwinkle,

I would think it depends on the cause of the excess weight, although by balancing the body with Reflexology all conditions could be helped.

Relaxation would help to eliminate stress and reduce stress-induced eating and could stimulate the bodies own weight-reducing elements, such as the brown adipose tissue, into action. Other conditions such as thyroid disorders, PCOS, etc. which can themselves cause great weight gain might also derive benefit from Reflexology in conjunction with standard Medical practices and result in weight loss.

I will be very interested to read the other replies to your question.

RE: reflexology and weightloss

I think it can but in a round about way.

I had a client come to me for one particular problem but during our conversations we would discuss her weight problem. This in turn led her to think about her diet, I suggested that she may have food sensitivities from what she told me, she had an allergy test and this was confirmed. She was sensitive to wheat and cut it out and started to lose weight.

So! Though I can't say it was the reflexology per se, it did help her to focus on the problem and I think that body therapies in general do help people to do that.:D

As Candie and Paul say, reflexology can be PART of helping someone to lose weight (elimination, balancing endocrine system etc). I have a client who is under the supervision of a clinical nutritionist to help her try to overcome PCOS. As part of this her nutritionist asked her to have regular reflexology. So far she has lost half a stone (I could swear it looks more), looks great and seems happier in herself. She is exercising more and enjoying eating a variety of foods. She is more relaxed. The weight loss is a bonus and happily she is getting many other benefits too.

Depends who's they are!!

Whether they have a nice Brie or gorgonzola aroma.
