RE: policemans heal

Policeman's Heel is often more commonly know as Heel Spur and can go hand in hand with another conditions called Plantar Fasciitis, both very painful when putting weight onto the foot.

This is usually caused by the arch dropping, causing the ligaments that run the length of the foot to tighten and begin to calcify from the heel.

Reflexology can help, especially if you incorporate a foot massage into the treatment as it can help to loosen the ligaments. But he may also need to see podiatrist as he may have postural problems or need orthotics for his shoes.

RE: policemans heal

I've treated a number of clients with this condition and they have all responded well, each to a greater or lesser extent. Aromababe is right, massage is key here over the reflexology treatment itself, as it will help to relieve localised pain and get things moving. If you are familiar with any mobilisation techniques, these will be of particular use to you. It can be a slow process, but also very worth it. He may already be under his GP for this, but as suggested may also need to see a podatrist. I know some people have responded well to orthotics in these situations.
