Well,
It doesn't look as if very many people frequent this forum, so I will make a start:D
To be honest I didn't know all that much about polarity therapy until my counsellor reccommended someone to me as she thought it might help me release stuff from the past and move forward. I'm off to my first appointment on Friday (sounds interesting, I was given a very detailed description of the session when I spoke to the therapist over the phone) so I'll look forward to it. Polarity obviously doesn't seem to be quite as popular as some of the other therapies, but I have a feeling that it might be the next best thing...I'm so excited about it[8D] but then that's probably my 'I'm going to change the world' streak shining through:D
I'll give an update after my first appt.
RE: My first session!
Looking forward to hearing about it Azalia,

RE: My first session!
don't you worry, I'm sure the whole world will know about it if it's good[sm=rollaugh.gif]
It seems to integrate much of reiki technique and principle don't you think?
RE: My first session!
I dipped in and out of a really interesting book about it 'Esoteric Anatomy' by Bruce Burger, but was a little put off by the emphasis on perineal massage. I'd be fascinated to hear how you get on, as the technique looked to be very powerful - just not for the shy!!

RE: My first session!
what have I let myself in for?? I suppose I'll be finding out in 2 and a bit hours[&:]
RE: My first session!
so we'll all be expecting a post at 12!!!!! hope it goes well, and that I havent put you off! I'm sure that this isn't the mainstay of the therapy, and as I said previously, it looks like an extremely powerful treatment.
Good luck

What a great therapy! It was fantastic.
ATM, I'm going through a lot of changes mentally, physically and spiritually- and in a very short time span as well which is causing me to confront and release a lot of "issues" from the past. Yesterday was very emotional and stressful and although I managed to express some of that, I wasn't able to fully release, so I was all ready to burst into tears during or after the treatment. It couldn't have been more opposite! After about 10 minutes I felt my whole energy shift, and I couldn't help smiling because it just felt so good. My spirits really did feel lifted as the treatment went on- the only time I could have cried is when she stopped!!! Since doing my second reiki course (at 1st degree) I have become very aware of energy during the treatment, and not only feel the changes and shifts throughout the entire treatment, but see it visually too. I can report that it does have a very similar feeling to reiki, (and a few of the hand positions are the same), but you really do get the feeling that your positive and negative 'poles' are being intergrated, and IMO this comes across more than a reiki treatment.
I still feel as if I'm soaking up all the things that happened, so I expect I'll make another post when I've got it together, but I would recommend this treatment to anyone interested!!

Haha, there wasn't any of that going on. I wouldn't really describe any of the movements I had done as 'massage', they're just 'rocking' motions. Actually, there were points during the treatment where I had to laugh because it was almost as if some of the things she was doing to make me look silly! She was very professional tho', it was just parts of the treatment.
RE: My first session!
fantastic! I'm glad you had such a good experience. I used to have treatment with an osteopath who used reiki and kinesiology, and from reading a little about polarity therapy, I have concluded that this was all part of the package - though I never confirmed this with him. I always found my spirits well and truly lifted during and after treatment.
I wonder if there are any polarity therapists local to Bristol.....

RE: My first session!
Thanks for all your comments.
Crikey, this polarity session seems to have worked on a deeper level than I first thought. So many of the deeply painful feelings I thought I had healed have re-emerged in full power, and it's really turning things upside down for a while. These emotions seem to just 'burst' out inside me and I have to expereince them for a day, maybe two until suddenly I'll have an 'aha!' moment and the pain will just disappear, like a weight lifted from my heart! It's very painful to go through everything again but it's amazing when these things lift- and now I've had this happen to me twice, I feel secure in the knowledge that next time it occurs, it will eventually disappear when I've accepted and dealt with it.
Phew. Healing crises are hard work. Keep on drinking the water....
