Hi everyone
I hope I'm in the right place as I could really do with some advice. I am hoping to, in the future train to become a physiotherapist. last month I came accross a job ad in the local hospital for a physiotherapy assistant, which I thought was a great starting point... problem is
I was perfectly alright with writing my application, as I kinda never expected to get an interview:), but now I do, it's on the 7th march and I need some help, lacking a little in the old confidence department. could anyone give me any tips, or questions that I could ask, or maybe if you would know what questions they may ask me? also would it be a good idea to speak about my been a reflexologist?
thankyou, any replies much appreciated

RE: physiotherapy assistant interview...help!!
Just be yourself! They will probably ask their questions based on your application form. I interviewed for a similar job a few years ago, but was pipped at the post by a bloke who lived closer to the hospital. They were not interested in my massage therapy/reflexology/MLD training as I would never be given the opportunity to use them on patients. The job was simply to assist the physios. It sounded quite interesting, with the opportunity of working in the community -going round to folks homes, to help them exercise or do ROM exercises.
As it happens, 6 weeks after the interview I found a 'lump' and had to take time off from my own business. All better now, and my own business has really taken off - thankfully.

I can only echo what JTH has said - the most important thing is to "be yourself" - you're clearly interested in the post and that should come across in the interview and your application has obviously interested them, so they want to know you - a compliment.

RE: physiotherapy assistant interview...help!!
I work as a physio assistant, part time and love it.
At the interview, I was asked about
- experience of working with people with physical difficulties
- communication skills
- organisational skills
- experience of moving and handling
- how I cope in stressful situations
- did I have any knowledge of A&P,
- understanding of common problems treated in physiotherapy
The thing to remember is that they are more interested in your 'people skills', than anything else, and also your willingness to learn. You do not need many official qualifications to do this job, but life experience is a great qualification.
I work with patients suffering from neurological problems, such as MS, Parkinsons, CVA, helping with exercise programs, doing massage, joint working with the physios when a patient is particularly disabled or unsafe to work with alone.
The only problem with my role is that we have no clerical support, so i spendover half mytime acting as a receptionist, managing our waiting list and general clerical support.
Its a great way to learn before training as a physio, and many do this and are probably better physios because of it (but Im biased!)
Hope this has been of help. Ask more questions if you need. Im new here but have been logging on daily for weeks.
