hi all,
I have a 10 week old baby who has never been a brilliant sleeper but has got dramatically worse over the last few days and pretty much refuses to sleep on his back in the nighttime, prefering to lie on me. He gets lots of wind and seems to spend most of the day straining in one way or another. I've also noticed that when I walk down the stairs with him he really tenses up and goes rigid, although does not seem to be telling me he is in pain with this. Do you think he would benefit from some cranial osteopathy?
Thanks,
Lily

follow your intuition about this..it could help clear any sresss from his birth experience..and more

I bet he does!:) Most babies will prefer to sleep next to mum, so you being his pillow must be just wonderful for him, little monkey. If he has become used to sleeping on you it will take some time and perseverance from you to wean him off doing this.
Is this your first baby?

This could be as simple as him instinctively protecting himself.
Along with all you are noticing in your son it may help to have a think about how you are feeling. For example, if ever you are feeling anxious in any way he will probably pick up on your energy and react in a similar way. If ever anyone has an unsettled baby it is always useful for them to look at themselves and their methods, feelings etc. This then gives you an all round picture of your baby's daily routine and how you may make positive changes for you and baby.:)

Don't know, sorry, but have you consulted your healthcare team, Health Visitor, Midwife, GP?
And don't forget yourself! Some lovely holistic treatments will benefit you too.

Yes go for it. The younger the better. I just took mine over a month ago and he's now 22 months old but his main problem is his teeth but found that after each treatment he was extremely exhausted and slept all night.
My sister also took her little girl when she was 7 months old and it worked a dream. She is a brilliant sleeper apart from when ill though.
Let us know how you get on.
Hi Lily
I'm also going to say go for it. But be prepared to be treated yourself. Energetically your little one is still very much linked into your energy system so will be picking up anything you are feeling, so the therapist should treat you to treat your son. When my dd had CST this is what happened. Go with what you feel is the correct way to raise your son. We had input from lots of health professionals for various things - nothing serious - and actually found a lot of the advice contradictory and unhelpful. If we had had support to do what we felt was right things could have been very different.
If you feel your son has a serious health condition or that the Cranial Osteopathy makes no difference then by all means have him checked by a more conventional health professional.
I don't have time for an in-depth reply.....but I would say YES!
I'm a mum to four, and all of mine have benefited from cranial osteopathy. One for glue ear, one for goodness knows what issue , but it helped!!!! One for silent reflux & the other just loved it!
Made their lives easier & better imo!
Good luck!

I think it will help your child - I toke mine when I noticed he had a neck strain, only needed to go once.
I am a baby massage instructer and I often talk to mums about the moro reflex, baby will often react to movement like that for up to 6 months.
They need security at first and go through so many different stages, as a mother you cant help but worry and wonder what is wrong...this is good it means you care and that your are looking after your angel.
try not to worry and listen to you inner self.

I would say yes, and also find a baby massage course in your area. Both will be an enormous help to both of you, not only energetically but also, in your case, to build your confidence. Babies pick up every little thing from us mums. So if you're nervous or stressed, they react to it. I remember when my eldest was about 3 weeks old, my husband was trying to persuade me to go and have a soak in the bath for half an hour. Trouble was, I couldn't because ds was yelling his head off. So dh took his from me and he was instantly calm. Then he held him near to me and he kicked off again. I took the hint from my tiny teacher and got in the bath. So it could be that your son is picking up your worry about carrying him downstairs ("what if I fall or slip?") and is tensing as a result of that, nothing more. I can tell you from my own experience that if you slip on the stairs whilst carrying your baby, instinct takes over, you pull them towards you and go down on your back. Or, when my dad fell downstairs carrying my niece, he somehow managed to turn and sit her on the step before continuing on his way.
One thing to say though is to be prepared for the fact that, after a cranial treatment (and sometimes during), babies often scream the place down. It's absolutely nothing to worry about. Just the energies sorting themselves out.
