One's health lies on seven factors mainly: 1.One's congenital conditions -- the congenital conditions of different individuals may be quite different, and these congenital conditions may have a great influence on one's health in all his life, but this is an accomplished fact, whatever the individual's congenital conditions are good or bad, one cannot change his/her past. However, one can grasp his/her future, if one can cultivate himself/herself properly, the good congenital conditions can be kept, and the bad ones can be improved. 2. Emotion -- emotion may influence one's health greatly, all intense emotions are negative to one's health, even if intense gladness will also harm one's heart. The right emotion is quiet, peaceful and easeful, to gain and keep this right emotion actually comes down to spiritual cultivation. 3. Training -- training can influence one's health obviously, a good training can enhance one's health greatly, however, an incorrect training will harm one's health. Good training must be natural, enjoyable and perseverant. 4. Rest -- rest is also very important to one's health, to ordinary individuals, sleep is the most important rest, ordinary person's mind cannot hush for a bit while when they are waking, only when in sleep their mind can get a rest. Good sleep helps to one's health, and good health also will improve one's sleep quality, they are interrelated each other. When an individual reaches a high level on Gongfu training, his/her spirit becomes strong, and his/her mind can be quiet in waking, he/she will need less sleep naturally. 5. Food and drink -- it is also important to eat and drink properly, it will be good to eat green food more than the food with much fattiness, and don't eat too full each time. When an individual reaches a high level on Gongfu training, his/her Qi channels will all open, he/she can absorb energy from nature directly, and then he/she will less depend on food. 6.Environment (weather, air, water, residence and dress etc.) -- we are influenced by environment every moment. A good environment will help one's health greatly, on the contrary, a bad environment will destroy one's health enormously. 7.Sexual activities -- immoderate sexual activities will consume one's Jing and Qi a lot, accordingly, his/her health will be harmed, masturbation is worse, immoderate sexual ideas will also harm one's health. If one practices Gongfu properly, his/her inner will be quiet, and he/she will have less sexual ideas and activities, his/her Jing will be transformed to Qi constantly, and his/her health will be improved day after day.

Hello Li Jiong,
Welcome on HP.
Your post is quite informative. However, I would like to add that regular TaiChi or Qi Gong practice do have the same benefits as those you described above.

RE: Health Preservation
Hello Li
Welcome to the HP forums.
Thank you for your post. I agree with everything you've said, except for Point 2 about emotions. It is not so much the intensity of the emotion that damages our health, but the degree of appropriateness. For example, if we have been strongly abused, it is appropriate for us to be furious. This is an intense emotion, and its appropriate expression will lead to good health. If it is suppressed or expressed inappropriately, it is damaging to health. In the example you gave, intense gladness is not harmful to our Hearts if we are sharing a moment with someone we love. The continued inappropriate expression of intense gladness, for example to complete strangers in banal situations, can harm our Hearts.
Also, Point 7 about sexual activities - bear in mind that according to the ancient texts, excess sexual activity for a man in the prime of his life meant ejaculation more than 4 or 5 times a day!! Most os us don't need to worry about exhausting our Essence through excessive sexual activity!
Best wishes

Thanks for the welcome, Artemis.
Perhaps my description is not clear and all-around, but I think TaiChi or Qi Gong practice can be contained at the training side.

RE: Health Preservation
Hello Aragorn,
Thank you for your good comments. About the Point 2, we are not opposite actually, let's talk about the example you gave, if we have been strongly abused, of course it is not good if we suppress or express the emotion inappropriately, but if we have enough self-confidence and good culture, it is not necessary to be furious, we can tell the individual that abusiveness is not right, it cannot solve any problem but halm your health, if the individual is impenetrable, then we cannot help. Of course, if we do not have enough self-confidence yet, it is appropriate for us to be furious.
Regards,
Li Jiong

Thank you Li - yes I agree with this clarification. Through years of energetic work, be it QiGong, Gongfu, acupuncture treatment etc etc, we may become more moderate in our emotional experiences.
In my experience, most of us are not there yet, and it is better to encourage the appropriate expression of emotion, however intense, as opposed to suppression of emotion which is more immediately damaging to our health.

Exact! In the other hand, since most of us are not there yet, and so most of us are not healthy enough, it is good for pursuing peaceful emotion state. And the traditional Gongfu training may help.
Merry Christmas!
