JUST FOR FUN! 😉

Is the Traditional Cornish Pasty a prime example of a Yin & Yang meal?......and i mean traditional!

The yangy meat side with its starchy potato, acidic..but sweet (yin within yang) onions and hot pepper. The Yin side with its sweet fruit fillings and custardy sauces with a hint of salt ( yang within yin) to balance the sweet and sourness.

Yes I think potentially a Cornish Pasty can incorparate the principles of Yin-Yang. The ancients of any civilisation, Cornish or Chinese or whatever, understand the priniciples of food energetics for balanced health whether they are aware of it or not.

But like cuisine of many cultures, Chinese meals and Cornish pasties have become a mass produced junk food products. Therefore lost their health producing properties.

Talking about food energetics and Cornwall, in Falmouth is the Fal Falafel stall . Hagit (who is Israeli) who runs it was explaining to me recently that the falafels in pitta bread they sell contains the 5 favours of sweet, sour, spicy, salty and bitter. This logic interesting enough is found in Chinese cookery and is associated with the elements of Wood (sour), Fire (bitter), Metal (spicy), Earth (sweet) and Water (salty).

Hi Chris

I think the only to really understand food and dietary therapy is to look at the history, science/biochemistry and anthropology of populations that thrive. Calories is too narrow a concept and many "official" nutritional tables have very narrow perimeters, often based on animals not humans.

So I'm going to eat like me ancestors, a Cornish pasty!

Best Wishes
