Hi ya,

I was wondering if anyone could help me please. I have just come back from the most amazing course recently which involved a remarkable change in myself using NLP techniques. I did not realise just how powerful this application could be and wished someone had told me about it years ago.
Anyway, the reason why I am making this posting is because I found NLP to be a really powerful tool, I would like to look into using NLP as an intervention for Young Offenders and was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction for some articles, journals or books on the matter.
Cheers then

Lou

RE: NLP and Young Offenders

Lou,
I don't know if ther are any NLP books specifically about working with young offenders but you might like to check out

Brief NLP Therapy by Ian McDermott & Wendy Jago
NLP Workbook by Joseph O'Connor
NLP at work by Sue Knight

All these three are very practical, with plenty of 'how to's

You don't say whether your course was an NLP Practitioner course. If it wasn't, do try and get yourself on one if you can - when you've finished it, you'll be well capable of designing your own interventions and using all the techniques you have experienced!

Good luck

I agree with Jonathan.

The first book he put down will be a particularly good one for want you want to do.

However I also agree with him that you should get to at least Practitioner level before using any specific NLP interventions. Though NLP is in a sense easy to use, dealing with what it can bring up in the client needs training and support.

Other than that, go for it. NLP is fantastic for Young Offenders who want to make the change. That is of course a key aspect. The individual must want to make the change, it can't be forced.

If I can help in any way please give me a shout. I've been using NLP now for well over two years with indivduals and groups.

Take care

RE: NLP and Young Offenders

Hi ya

I went on the practitioner's course not really knowing much about NLP or as to how powerful it was as I am a student at Uni and for my dissertation I wanted to write about Bringing about change with Young Offenders, so I thought it would be a great course to do. I have completed the course yet as I spent 2 days or so it seemed in therapy but those two days have been the best two in my life for a long time. In fact those two days have been better than the last 2 years!!
Anyway the reason why I am looking particularly at NLP and Young Offenders even though I know the methods/ techniques etc is because I need to have references within my research.
Thanks for pointing out those books as well - i have already ordered a couple and also Whispering In The Winds as I have been told that this is a good book to get.

Thanks once again for your help
Lou;)

I'd like to use Reiki with young offenders too! But I don't think the Education/YOT people are quite ready for it yet. 🙂
