HI
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I suffer from depression and low self esteem. I have decided to go and see a NLP practioner on Friday. Now I am really scared and unsure of what to expect. Has anyone had a positive experience with NLP and espicially seeing a NLP practioneer.
Thanks
Good Stuff!
Hello
I'm new too and was just introducing myself when I saw your post.
My partner works extensively within the 'world' of NLP and over the past few years I have heard alot about it. I would say that what you are about to experience (hopefully with a toppo practitioner) will be amazing, effective and ground breaking for you if it is something you have had no experience of so far.
As far as many, many people are concerned it is a far improved form of counselling. It doesn't expect you to sit down and re-live any old stuff that will only bring it all to the fore again - it will give you tools for your brain to 'short-cut' to positive associations and experiences. Trample down some new paths!
I haven't had any formalised NLP counselling myself so I would be interested to hear how it goes!
Good luck on Friday - I'm sure it will all go well.

Thanks for your reply. I found my NLP season to be very interesting, The person I went to does a lot of work with the Universities in my area so I am pretty sure he is the real deal.
He definitly knows his stuff, Although you don't go over past experience extensively you do work with the physical effects they have on you. I learnt that you lock your body in a certain posture when you relive negative situations from your past. You do it normally on an unconscious level. Then we react to the way a memory makes us feel like it is seperate to us and we have no control over it, we come passive to our emotions and let them take over us. So then we allow ourselves to get ingrossed in emotions as if they're not a part of us and within our control. When actually all emotions and feelings come from you and are within your control.
We did lots of exercises working out in literal terms where the emotions were and how they feel, also how to visualise them in order to change them.
I also learnt if your anxious you are very vague in your speech patterns. something really interesting is that if you suffer from depression or Anxiety you talk from your throat and not your diaphram.
My NLP guy told me that I need to learn to Juggle and I mean Juggle as in literally throw three balls in the air at the same time. Apparently it gets diffrent hemispheres of your brain workimg
The session went for 2 1/2 hours so was pretty intense. I was also set some homework one part was to learn to juggle, other parts involved reading numerous books. If anyone wants to know about the books just post and I will do my best to let you know what they are all about.
I think some of the techniques he used were verging on the crazy but you have to be open minded. Overall if they any one out there who wants to make a change but like me has no idea how to do it I think NLP could help.
hi
anymore information,would be great
Hi There,
I have been involved with NLP since 1989 and have been lucky enough to be trained by Dr Richard Bandler.
This type of Human Potential work totally changed my life I went through a rough few years with Divorce, Death and Loss of Job and I used a lot of the techniques taught to me by Dr Bandler. Now I run my own successful consulting business, I own my home outright, I have a wonderful partner and beautiful kids and I also now teach NLP at my local college and license Practitioners and Master Practitioners through Dr Bandler and all I did was start enjoying my life instead of worrying about issues that may or may not come up. I can honestly say I still have hiccups along the way but they are now just unprecidented opportunities to learn something new!!! 😎
Have no fear when seeing an NLP Practitioner just remember its all in your own head and if you are not driving the bus then who the hell is?

The juggling thing is quite a fun experience! I recently compeleted Practitioner training and we rather looked forward to our daily juggling sessions! There were quite a few other hemisphere stimulating exercises that we went through as part of 'Brain Gym'; it surprised me that when we felt we were getting a little 'brain frazzled', five minutes of brain gym seemed to refresh and refocus one's grey matter ready for some more work!
It's a very very interesting subject and one that I am still incorporating into me; I'm now looking forward to taking the next step towards Master Practitioner training next year.

Beth,
Go to this site there you can download a free manual on EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) you can learn this quickly and by yourself you will also get free follow up emails. This is not my site or anything to do with me it's the main EFT site and has loads of free information on Meridian Tapping which works really well for anxiety and issues with high emotional content. If you want some specific help in using NLP send me a PM I have been told off for putting the wrong things on the forum twice this week and don't want to get in trouble again!! 😉
Hi,
I did an NLP coarse this summer. I highly recomend it. So much of my own stuff got sorted out and shiffted that week.I hated hearing french being spoken. After that coarse I now have no promblem when I hear it. Lots of other private issues got sorted out as well.
Good luck
Love and light

Counselling & psychotherapy are a little bit more than just 'reliving old stuff'.
I feel that there is good in both therapies, depending what issues the client presents.
Helping clients with depression is wonderful and I very much agree that cognitive therapies have their place in helping others, yet I also believe that it will not get to the root of the depression - why depression appeared in the first place.
Counselling & psychotherapy are a little bit more than just 'reliving old stuff'.
Really?? So why do we need to find the root cause? and once identified how does this effect a theraputic shift? Psychological Archeology just causes more problems. Both the Psychodynamic and Person Centred theoretical models of Psychotherapy are contraindicated for Depression because of the reflection and going back over "old stuff"
yet I also believe that it will not get to the root of the depression - why depression appeared in the first place.
That might be because when utilising NLP the root cause is irrelevant... It is HOW the person makes themself feel bad that is modified not the WHY....
An NLP practitioner does not work on content but on internal processes and representations.
