Hello,

I suffer from Hypoglycaemia, my Doctor gave me a test for Diabetes and found i did not have it but to have regular check ups for it as both my parents got it in their old age.

I was advised to eat every 2/3 hours to keep my sugar levels up.

I am also going to take a Herbal supplement, has anyone got any views on whether to take Cinnamon Bark 500g or Chromium Polynicotinate 100mcg

thanks 🙂

Not sure on the meds - But as far as you having food every 2-3 hours you should be careful what it is you have. I have for many years had a 'low' at about 4.00pm, my mother always had a sweet at that time, and still does @the age of 89 - she is very fit and strong for her age, gardens everyday - we often tease her that she is more reliable than a clock! I have a spoonful of peanut butter at about 3.00 as I need to gain my sugar not instantly but by complex carbs. I am highly allergic to bananas - otherwise I would have that, my father when he was alive would have milk. So you need to find out what works for you, and not have an 'Instant sugar kick' - trial is the best for we are all individuals.

Hi- I would strongly endorse the previous post.-If you have the 'wrong' foods every few hours, you might make the situation worse, rather than better!
Regarding the herbal supplements, I think you'd be wise to consult a qualified herbalist before taking anything. Also, if you want help restore the balance, along with eating well, you could consult a homeopath for a few sessions of treatment. HTH Hom

Water and salt are one of the best preventatives for hypoglycaemia and diabetis. This is a quote from the late Dr Batmanghledj:

Adult-onset diabetes is another adaptive state to severe dehydration of the human body. To have adequate water in circulation and for the brain's priority water needs, the release of insulin is inhibited to prevent insulin from pushing water into all body cells. In diabetes, only some cells get survival rations of water.

Water and some salt will reverse adult-onset diabetes in its early stages before it becomes an autoimmune disease with a destruction of insulin-producing cells.

The ideal water in my opinion is ionized water, and the ideal salt is celtic sea salt.

Yes, cinnamon bark is an amazing substance, but i wouldn't take it as a supplement (500 mg is not enough) as you can get it quite cheaply in most indian grocery stores. I add a handful to my tea. I add the barks/strups, but you can also grind it into powder, then add take that.

Cinnamon has many health benefits including help with blood sugar control as was shown in this Swedish study:

You should take the salt separately, not in the water - add it salads, nuts, etc. I add some to my mate tea, along with cinnamon bark and things like fennel seeds and cardamons.

Dr Batman advised increasing salt intake by around 1/2 teaspoon (approx 3 grams) salt for 4 litres of water. You need to judge for yourself, depending on your lifestyle - it depends on the individual, level of excercise/sweat, the weather (need more when its hot), etc. If you get cramps in unexcercised muscles, its an indication of insufficient salt intake. Also any dizziness and feeling faint may be indicators of salt and water shortage.

Ensure that it's Celtic Sea Salt (ie naturally harvested, unrefined, unprocessed). Table salt (99% sodium chloride) is processed, which changes the Sodium, making it heavier and it does not flow as it should in the body. The processing removes all the other minerals and trace elements from the sea salt (that are then sold on), which the body needs.

Without knowing your full history and current diet, it's a bit difficult to recommend. However, Patrick Holford, one of Britain's leading nutritionist's simply recommends having a 'half a teaspoonful a day of cinnamon.' This has been found to significantly reduce blood-sugar levels in diabetics, and benefits those like yourself who have blood-sugar problems.

Best wishes,
Wendy

Hello,

as my research i found from the Reviewed of Varnada Karriem-Norwood, MD,
That Biotin is a coenzyme and a B vitamin and is also known as vitamin H. As a supplement, biotin is sometimes used for diabetes, brittle nails, and other conditions.

Biotin plays a key role in the body. It supports the health of the skin, nerves, digestive tract, metabolism, and cells. Biotin may also help to treat some types of nerve pathology, such as the peripheral neuropathy that can result from kidney failure or diabetes.

Biotin supplements have been studied as a treatment for a number of conditions. In people with type 2 diabetes, early research suggests that a combination of biotin and chromium might improve blood sugar. On its own, biotin might decrease insulin resistance and nerve symptoms related to type 2 diabetes. More research needs to be done. Some preliminary evidence suggests that biotin might help strengthen brittle nails.

Hope it will help 🙂
