Hi there

Please can anyone help. I'm 34 and for the past 2 years I have suffered with Rosacea. I have small red blood vessils and little postules.

I have read about Rosacea and the medical experts sometimes refer it to as an adult acne.

I personally feel mine is a combination of over sun exposure - burst red vessils and little red spots on both my cheeks. I don't really have it anywhere else on my face. Also my skin has always been quite good.

I am looking to find a natural way to get to the root cause. I suspect stress has played a major part too. I don't really want to take aniti biotics and oral drugs and medicated creams as they suggest in the conventional way.

If there are an homeopathic/ herbal remedies please can anyone advise.

Really appreciate it as it really gets me down:(

cheers!

Hi there

Complementary therapies probably can help a lot. Nutritionist Patrick Holford suggests you first work out which foods make it worse - like hot drinks, coffee, alcohol, spicy foods, etc and avoid them. Look also at gut function - a lack of enzymes like lipase and stomach acid can be linked to rosacea. This is probably best sorted out by a qualified nutritional therapist (find one ) who will look at all your symptoms and work out what is best for you.

It will probably be helpful to take a high potency B-complex vitamin supplement - 100mg of each vitamin. Keep your skin cleansed with hypoallergenic cleansers and aloe vera gel may help ease burning sensations. Avoid big temperature changes if possible.

Hope that helps

hi there,
i suffered from this about 6 years ago, thankfully in two small patch, and quite often when i didnt shave.

Unfortunately I havent found anything that has cured it, even though I have literally tried everything possible, including some of the 'miracle cures' you can find on the net.

The only thing for me that has ever alleviated the redness is the 'Allergenics' range from Holland & Barrett, and in particular the Non-steroidal Moisturiser to apply directly, and the Clearasil (blue) face wash. Not keen on the chemicals in the clearasil, but it does seem to work quickly when it flares up.

Thankfully it has never spread above two small patches so its not noticeable, however it sometimes gets a bit painful and itchy!

The only thing I've found that keeps my rosacea under control is to use Orange Flower Water every night as a toner.

Hi, there are homeopathic remedies that could help with this. I'd suggest either seing a homeopath or finding some good literature and buying the remedy that is best indicated for the nature of the particular symptoms you have, if it's available in the shops ( a small range can be bought over the counter). Hi there,

I suffered from Rosacea for years and tried every cream going with no effect. I saw a dermatologist who gave me some gel which didn't help either. I tried herbal remedies, Vit B, tried eliminating foods. I tried a blend of essential oils in calendula, which I blended myself (I am a qualified aromatherapist)and this helped a little but didn't get rid of it. You name it, I tried it.

I eventually found a website which supplies creams etc from the USA.They offer a 30 day money back guarantee, so I thought I'd give it a try. And they are made from all natural products.

Initially it made my skin worse-worse than it had ever been before! So I stopped using it and contacted them by email. They advised me to try using it every other day instead of every day. I was sceptical but was willing to try anything, so did as they said and within a few days I noticed a great improvement.

Well that was 5 years ago and I am still using their products and I haven't had rosacea since. I still have broken veins, but smooth clear skin. In fact people compliment me on my skin and ask me what I use. What a difference it has made to my confidence! I can also eat anything I like from curries to chilli with no problems.

I also recommended it to a girl at work who suffered from acne and she was really impressed too!

The products I use are: Soft as Silk Cleanser, Redness & Blemish control cream, (this is this one I had to use every other day, but only use once a week now) and Super Rich Moisturiser. The products aren't cheap with the exchange rate at the moment-but I feel well worth it. The cleanser lasts me 6 months, the moisturiser 3 months and the redness/blemish control up to a year now.

I would really recommend you give them a try as I know how soul-destroying it is. It certainly worked for me.

Hope this helps

You could try some green tea cream I have seen it work well for a member of my family, you can get it pretty much anywhere and all you need to do is apply it to the affect areas 2 times a day, mainly your face since you have rosecea and within 2-3 weeks you should notice some improvement.

Hope this helps

Viridian Beauty oil works for me.
Taken on the spoon or used as a dressing on salads, pasta even on porridge.

I read about the recommendation in the Sunday Mail You Magazine some time ago.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but it seemed to make more sense than to start a new one as there are other products recommended on here.

I was diagnosed with Rosacea a few years ago. I was given the steroid cream that thins the skin (no thanks) and was offered a referral to a dermatologist but was told that it would take 12 months and that I would be better off paying £90 per hour and going private (have to love the NHS!).

I did all the usual things, cutting out different foods and drinks etc but to no avail. I found the flare ups were minimal by using self-hypnosis but that they did still come along occasionally. The products from the dermatologist were expensive but did help a bit, but to be honest, the self-hypnosis was doing just as much on it's own. However, I did find that I was having to do it regularly (so I recorded a session to CD to make it easier).

I did make the mistake of trying a Forever Living cream that a friend who sells them recommended, silly really as she's not a dr or skin specialist and this did untold damage, it took weeks for the flareup this caused to clear.

I then tried Mario Badescu products and found they were fantastic (quite hard to get hold of in the UK) but that I only needed to forget to use them for one day and I could have a flare up. As lots of companies are jumping on the bandwagon with this type of skin problem, I tried a few of the cosmetic companies but found these really were no help at all, especially Clinique which actually caused my rosacea to flare up. So, back to Mario Badescu until I could find something better, at least their products meant that I was flare-up free, even if it did mean that I had to stick to a strict regime.

Then, while in a large branch of Boots looking for another product I had heard about, their skin specialist recommended Avène. These are a daytime and nightime cream that apparently are the prescription medication for Rosacea in France, Portugal and a few other countries. She gave me a free sample size of each and they seemed to work well so I went back and bought them. When I had the full product, I read the instructions and the night time cream said to use it for 3 months and then stop. I used these religiously for three months and then stopped. For the past six months I have been completely free of Rosacea, using no products at all! It does beg the question as to why the NHS don't offer this product on prescription, especially when it's not for constant use as the currently prescribed medications are. As well as being more effective, it should also work out cheaper.

I have tried changing my diet and supplements etc. but that didn't work for me. I used a rosacea cream by mama nature that has made a remarkable difference to my skin. Apart from some scarring which I hope will heal with time all of the inflammation, pastules etc. have gone. It did make it worse for about a week after first applying it but they do tell you on their website this is a good sign. I use still use a little every day (they recommend this in case the demodex mites return). It is expensive but my jar lasts about two months. GREAT NATURAL CREAM.
