Hi all

I have just finished a wonderful course: HERBAL COMPRESS MASSAGE

Absolutely loved it, and as the tutor has been teaching us how to make our own compresses (the best part!) I would now like to attempt making some

Does anyone know where I could buy cheaper herbs?
Such as tumeric, lemongrass, aloe vera, lavanda, etc...

Thank you so much

x

Well I don't know where you are, it doesn't say. You can get sachets of herbs from Holland and Barrett, or a health food shop. I have known some to be sold in Indian supermarkets too.

Hi Sunnylife, welcome to Hp.

I make my own herbal compresses. I have been lucky and done two different compress courses in Thailand, and done quite a bit of experimentation at home.

I use herbs from many different sources.

*Peppermint tea bags from Lidi (increases the volume as well), 49p - Bargain!
*Oriental shops ie cloves, turmeric, lime leaves, lemongrass, cimminon bark
*Rosemary and thyme from a local supplier to the catering trade
*Out of my own garden
*Discarded lemon/lime/orange peel - kitchen table technology!
*Lavender from a local medical herbalist
*Ginger root from the supermarket.
*Camphor crystals are harder to find. I got some from the herbalist and brought a big bag back from my last trip to Thailand. You can buy camphor oil in this country and drip it on small rags and put it into the middle of the compress pack.

I try to shop around for the best deals to keep the price down. At the moment costs round £5 to make two 240 gram packs. Also you can freeze compresses (mainly if you use fresh ingredients), which can be useful if you want to store them ready for a client

I happy to give any extra advice.

Best Wishes

Reiki Pixie
