Ok new at this, but going to experiment. I plan initially to attempt to make the following things, lip balm, moisturizer, toner, cleanser and shampoo.

my query is should they be in glass bottles, or can you use plastic? When you have made your own do they need to be stored in a fridge or is in a drawer ok? (and how about the ingredients can you store them in a cool place (like a cupboard)

essential oils...I don't want to buy too many things to start with, because of storage space...I was going to choose lavender and a rose one (what is geranium rose like is it very strong powered?) I have sensitive skin and find highly powered things set me sneezing, etc. are there partiuclarly essential oils that you use more than others.

For base/carrier oils I have sweet almond, as i use that generally for personal use. anything else recommeded

thanks

thannks

I use plastic bottles and containers for my creams etc, ad you don't have to store them in the fridge.

Essential oils if your not sure I'd personally go for lavender and tea tree as it's rare people are allergic and their good for most ailments etc.

Hope this helps

'geranium rose' is actually rose-geranium and is not rose, but pelargonium. Lovely stuff but very strong and dominant. Not nearly as expensive as rose. Inview of the cost of some of the oils (one only buys 5 or 10 ml at a time, so storage space isn't actually an issue!) I would see if you can hook up with an aromatherapist locally and buy 1 or 2 ml from her on an as-needed basis, or just to smell them before you buy your own. She'll also give you advice about blending - you do have to be careful with percentages.
