I did search the topic! It was hardly mentioned in HP....
I really think this is VERY interesting!
It does not put people "into boxes" and I find it relevant & invaluable! I thought I had reached a better self-awareness than what I really had... There are only 9 nine types, but many subtleties.
This is complex and fascinating and gives you a lot of freedom. It helps you keep your ego for what it is useful, and reach your essence, that is the counterpart, hidden by your ego.
I found that it was possible to study and work with it by myself. It took me a long time to be sure about my own type, but do not let anyone suggest any type to you, as this is very important to look for it, and find it.
Who knows about it too?
Thanks Ava! Yes, 9 types are not 9 boxes! This must be said again and again.
You can change and still remain a 4... (no way to change this!)
And you can be very different from other 4s.
You developed a wing 5, but check out if you developed your wing 3 or not...
You can also easily wander if you use your instinctive center last. 4s use their feeling center 1st. Then what comes second, right after an emotion, planning, sorting things out, and then action?
People who do not fit well into their type just drop the enneagram.... that is why you only know people who match the arrow directions!
lol, I can see that! - but actually I don't openly use the Enneagram very often: its just there drawing my attention to parts of the clients'experiencing.
Thanks for the information.
My model is that the original wound is/was in the security centre, which is why that then becomes the direction of integration.
I wonder what Gurdjieff would make of it all!
I did not know Gurdjieff.... Thanks for the link.
You can see there that the original geometric figure shows no arrows at all!
I see the basics there:
- there are 3 centres: instinct, thinking and feeling.
- We all use the 3 of them.
BUT we all have preferences!
- We have a favourite centre,
- We use this centre preferably inward, outward, or we hesitate.
=> 3 preferred centres + 3 ways of using our favourite... 3x3=9 types...
What's about our use of the 2 other centres? Why should this order be defined only by the way we use our favourite centre?
All orders are possible. Then this gives 2 possibilities per type.
I could be instinctive - thinking - feeling
Or I could be instinctive - feeling - thinking
This gives the 2 possibilities of integration.
