Hello All,

I am currently studying Part Life Regression via distance learning, just for my own intrests.
I am having trouble with one of the tasks, I have to spend some time doing self hypnosis. I have made sure i am clear about what i need to do, Relax then begin to walk down the stairs to a sofa and a door ect ect ect...
Trouble is, i cant seem to allow myself to even walk down the stairs. Everything remains dark. I am sure that if it was light i would be able to continue. I expect that this will take some practise to train my mind ect.
Does anyone have any experience in this or advice to help me?
Thank you
Sally x

Hi Sally
I am not an expert on this and in my experience I find it easier to follow a guiding voice. Maybe you could record yourself and listen to your voice guiding you through to the ralaxation process and down the stairs, with light if you choose.
All the Best

I attended a self-hypnosis course on Sunday. We were told that if we couldn't visualise walking down stairs, to just count down from 10 to 1. I chose to count down numbers anyway, and it worked OK for me. How about giving it a go?:)

It is certainly true that not everyone is a "visual" person, but hypnosis does not depend on your ability to visualise. "Auditory" people will find imagining sounds or voices will help induce a trance and "kinaesthetic" people will get there by imagining feelings and sensations.....and so on.

However, you say that you cannot seem to allow yourself to walk down the stairs. Another possibility is that this is your subconscious telling you that you are not ready to make this step yet. If you continue to find your induction difficult perhaps you could consider why this might be?

Just a thought.

Good luck! It sounds fascinating.
