Hi folks, This is not a reply to anyone in particular ut I felt I had to stick my two peneth in.

I have been watching this thread with some amusement. Nobody seems to have picked up on Simon’s views in his post of 20 March which I totally endorse. My view is that to make it a tantric massage the recipient of the massage needs to have studied tantra to take full advantage of the experience, otherwise it becomes an erotic massage. There is not IMO necessarily anything wrong with that. Massage, both erotic and otherwise, has been used by various therapists to treat sexual dysfunction of one sort or another. But this shouldn’t be confused with tantric massage.

The sacred books of Tantrism were written between the 7 th and 17 th centuries AD and the word Tantra is from the Sanskrit, meaning to expand and liberate. Tantra is a spiritual
practice; using yoga and meditation to open you to cosmic and physical love.

At the centre of Tantra is the knowledge of how to stimulate the inner masculine (shiva) and the inner feminine (shakti) to achieve the sacred union. The end result brings balance to body, mind and spirit, thus greatly enriching your life on all levels. It has been described as the “swiftest and most profound path to enlightenment”

Massage can help people with physical, physiological and emotional problems regarding intimacy and sex. You don’t have to follow the tantra path. You do need to find a therapist who has an understanding and knowledge beyond the basic massage techniques and who is prepared to spend a lot of time talking before you ever think of getting on the table.

Then of course you may just want an erotic experience!

As someone who really enjoys massage (I'm not a therapist) and has never experienced any other way of relaxing as much as I do when being massaged I have often wondered about Tantric massage.
I have read a lot of articles etc. on the subject and it sounds fantastic.

My main concerns would be finding a Tantric therapist that is exactly that and not someone who will just offer mechanical relief after a massage which doesn't interest me. Don't get me wrong,I aint no prude, but if I want extra I can do that myself without paying for it thank you.
The massage I am receiving at the moment is very special to me as I find it relaxes me in a way I didn't know was possible and seems to be more a massage of my mind than my body.

Also ,over time,now thatIhave accepted the fact thatIcan, and do, have involuntary erections during massage..something I had to getcomfortable withand not let it ruin the treatment and undo the good work of the therapist... I would be more comfortable exploring the effects of massage a liitle more.

Reading back over this it sounds like I am trying to justify something else and if that is the case then apologies if I'm not expressing myself correctly.

Has anyone genuinely had the experiecnce that is Tantric ? and by that I meanis it a goodextensionto regular massage ? I wouldn't dream of asking my therapist about it and risk them getting the wrong idea as it took me long enough to find someone as good.

I must admit this whole thread as got me curious and I've been reading around the old Interweb for more information about Tantra, how it is used, abused and in a lot of cases misunderstood. There are many reputable organisations, therapists and workshops that are dedicated to its exploration - many are just an excuse for sex.

Two I have come across that are consistently put in high reguard are Body Electric (a US organisation, but they have therapists all over the world and workshops all over the place) and Gay Love Spirit, as the name suggests a gay run organisation based in Europe to do lots of work in the UK. I'm sure both would be able to put you in touch with someone local to you, either male or female (BE work with all genders and sexualities).
