Can't help you with your question. But maybe someone who can would be able to enlighten me about how tantric massage differs from regular massage? I'm seeing the term used more and more.
I thought the same yogajoga and on research found it to be another name for Thai/Yoga massage, apparently. A form of massage that has it's origins in Buddhism.
It did sound a little bit more, what shall we say, 'exotic' than that I thought.
However on kind instruction from Reiki Pixie and a little more research I realise I am completely wrong!!!!! As you will read further on. x

And why does it have to be carried out by a female..?
Hi ya
I have looked at books and websites on Tantric Massage, and it doesn't look like Thai Yoga Massage.
Cheers

I am always happy to be corrected Reiki Pixie. Can you say exactly what it is?
Rx
Hi ya Cirrus
From what I understand Tantric massage is a very sensual massage that circulates sexual energy around the body.
Thai Yoga massage is more like Shiatsu and applied Hatha Yoga.

Ok...... just did a search on Google and ummmmm........
I based my research (very limited and rushed as it was) on the premise of the true meaning of Tantric pertainig to the word Tantra. Obviously the wrong method and completely off track! Thilly me:009:.
Please ignore my original post everyone I will edit it accordingly. I know not what I say. As is obvious, I am not trained in such therapies.
I'm glad you posted Reiki Pixie otherwise I may have refered such requests to the wrong type of therapist!!!
Has made me laugh though!

Hi ya Cirrrus
Don't worry about editing.
There is so many types of massage and bodywork it's mind blowing. It would take me a life time to go through them all (that is as a receiver, let alone as a practitioner).
The problem with Tantric massage that many people thinks it purely about sex, and is a front for prostitution. But you could say that about any form of massage. Isn't it 2007 not 1907???
Cheers

Yes, I see the word "tantric" misused as a cover-up in ads. I think the word might be derived from sanskrit. I think it's got ancient, spiritual origins but trust this screwed up world to take something that is pure and mess with it until it's associated with things of a baser nature.
I was also wondering why this poster wants a female? I got a call the other day from someone wanting to know if I did "lingum" massage. Another sanskrit word I think? I said I didn't know what that word meant and he got off the line pronto. However, upon looking the word up it means phallus or penis. Charming! What's wrong with these men - why can't they realise there's more to life than their "lingum" 😉
It has often been said that many men think with there "lingum":rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh:
Well...... I have done a little bit of research into the word 'lingum' and........... No no, only joking!!!
I know when I am beaten:007:.
I shall leave men and their 'lingums' well alone.:022: :011:

whats a naturist massage?
I got an email requesting one and just deleted it as my immediate thoughts was that it was sexually related. (ducking down for all the irate posts from naturist masseuses). but before I get shot down with that comment, that was MY immediate thought!
A naturist massage is where both the therapist and the person having the massage are unclothed.
tantric massage
:otantric massage and natuist massage are to totaly diffent massages .
never had or would want a tantric massages:confused:.nothing against people that do have them , good luck to them.
natuist massages is where the person having the massages and the person given the massages are totaly naked ,
i have had the later and it is relly a nice sorted of massages ,
trouble is trying to find somewhere or some one to give a natuirst massages with out pumping up there prices is hard .
as natuirst clubs have a thing against single men , so trying to get one there is a no before you start .
so anyone out there who knows or gives a natuist massages please let us know ,
and any one thinking about trying one do . it very relaxing
ray
🙂
Apologies to all on this thread. I indeed did not know the true meaning of this type of massage and certainly will not be having one after finding out!!!!
no need to appologise - mistakes are another way of learning
what do you actually want? are you looking more along the lines of naturist or undraped massage?
If we take this definition of Tantra from Wiki:
"Tantra is that Asian body of beliefs and practices which, working from the principle that the universe we experience is nothing other than the concrete manifestation of the divine energy of the Godhead that creates and maintains that universe, seeks to ritually appropriate and channel that energy, within the human , in creative and emancipatory ways".
then perhaps it was some sort of spiritual massage that was required (if there is such a thing)?
Love and Reiki Hugs
Hi Folks. I have copied my post from another thread some months ago which may throw some light on thisd subject.
I quote - "My view is that to make it a tantric massage the recipient of the massage needs to have studied tantra to take full advantage of the experience, otherwise it becomes an erotic massage. There is not IMO necessarily anything wrong with that. Massage, both erotic and otherwise, has been used by various therapists to treat sexual dysfunction of one sort or another. But this shouldn’t be confused with tantric massage.
The sacred books of Tantrism were written between the 7 th and 17 th centuries AD and the word Tantra is from the Sanskrit, meaning to expand and liberate. Tantra is a spiritual practice; using yoga and meditation to open you to cosmic and physical love.
At the centre of Tantra is the knowledge of how to stimulate the inner masculine (shiva) and the inner feminine (shakti) to achieve the sacred union. The end result brings balance to body, mind and spirit, thus greatly enriching your life on all levels. It has been described as the “swiftest and most profound path to enlightenment”
Massage can help people with physical, physiological and emotional problems regarding intimacy and sex. You don’t have to follow the tantra path. You do need to find a therapist who has an understanding and knowledge beyond the basic massage techniques and who is prepared to spend a lot of time talking before you ever think of getting on the table.
Then of course you may just want an erotic experience!" - unquote
Tantric Massage is a full body massage and will incorporate a lingam massage for guys and a Yoni massage for women. Tantra will use the flow of energy both sexual energy of orgasm and kundalini energy through the Chakras to allow the receipient to enjoy a blissfull reconnection to the divine/universe. Guys learn to withhold ejaculation and hold the energy of orgasm within and women can either hold the energy in and be left drunk with orgasmic bliss or ejaculate. This is very different to massage with a 'happy ending'. Hindu Tantra and Buddhist Tantra are different as one is a sexual path to enlightenment and the other is a spiritual path.
Hello sptierney6 and welcome to Healthypages
Just popping into this thread briefly to point out that, as this thread is nearly a year old now, you may not get any response from the previous posters here.;)
Suggest you also pop into the new members forum to say Hello.
Hope you enjoy the forums.
