I have read past threads about lomi lomi and it seems to get quite heated, so I hope I don't start anything off.

I've done 3 courses in lomi lomi and am now loving the massage. I wondered if anyone used singing bowls or any sound therapy to start of finish the treatments.

also, does anyone use shells, stones or bamboo?

I've come across toning in my lomi lomi training (and crystal training), though never the use of singing bowls with lomi lomi. I've had lomi lomi therapists chanting/singing during treatments, and that was encouraged during most of the training I've done.
Temple style lomi lomi moves so much on an energetic level, I'm wondering why you'd want to bring in more energetic aspects like singing bowls?

I use stones, sometimes - many of the basic LaStone routine moves are VERY similar to lomi lomi done with the hands, using stones while you use your forearms temple style seems pretty difficult to me, ditto shells and bamboo. Wooden sticks are used in lomi lomi traditionally, and stones are used as a heat source for poultices, not so much as a massage tool. There are lots of hot stone massage routines saying they are Hawaiian/lomi lomi, but it's BASED on lomi lomi strokes, not a traditional method, (massage tables aren't traditionally used either 🙂 ).

I've been amazed at how similar many Ayurvedic, Native American and lomi lomi massage styles are, so maybe the singing bowls aren't such a leap.

thanks for that Cola, I like to know as much as possible about everything I do.

I have signed up to regular emails from a lomi lomi practioner so will reread through the archives to see if any of this is mentioned.

Why do you want to bring in more energitic aspects like the singing bowls when lomi lomi works on the energitic level so much anyway?

Can I ask which lomilomi practitioner you've signed up for emails from and are these in the form of newsletters? lomi is by far my favourite style of massage so far and I am keen to learn as much as I can about it too.

Hi,

I would like to know if there is any training going on up here (North of England) that is reputable and accredited for Lomi Lomi Massage? Can anyone advise?
