Anyone offer Thai foot massage? Is it worth doing?

Morning,

I practise Thai Hand and Foot massage and would say they are worth doing.
I was lucky enough to have a had a lovely woman ,who was very thorough and ensured we had to cover ten case studies with before she gave me a certificate.I also had to do a writen test and the whole lot only cost me £125.00!

She is in the Fife area but it is worth checking out how good the training is before you part with any money.

I have covered Four courses with my teacher as I was so confident in her teaching abilities and I am shortly going to do another with her so that is good testament to her!

Anyone any recommendations on where I could go to train in Northern England? There's a centre that does it in Leeds and Manchester but I know no-one who has ever done this course.

Thai Foot Massage takes from 30 to 60 minutes depending on how indepth you wish to treat. I personally think that with all therapies, you should do treatments that you like done to yourself. A form of empowerment. As for course fees, that depends if you think it's worthwhile.

One major benefit in training in TFM is that it will provide a basic and effective reflexology routine. I have taught it to reflexologists that decided that it was a better format than the boring thumbwalking technique (which induces RSI) used in western reflexology.

I can't say much about TFM course in the UK, apart from most are too short and should be at least 2 days of training. I have done 2 TFM courses I have in Thailand and both have been 2 full days of training. If I wasn't an experienced reflexologist and masseur, I would of wanted more time to practice.

Yes, TFM is worth learning. Would you make a living from it? I doubt it. You have to have more strings to your bow!

One thing I must say, don't believe the hype about TFM being ancient, and having elements of yoga, shiatsu and chinese acupressure, practiced for 1000's of years. This is nonsense!!!! TFM is Chinese style reflexology based on modern western foot reflex charts, which has been mixed with traditional Thai massage based on sen energy lines. It's a hybrid system developed approx. 9 years ago.

Where do you consider Northern England to be spiritualbeing?

I know of a place in Durham and Leeds that offers training.

RE: business from it.
I offer it as a stand alone treatment and I also include it in an Eastern Fusion Treatment alongside Oriental face massage.
In the future I intend offering it as an addition to reflexology.

I really like the stretching involved in it and am also going to incorporate it into my Indonesian massage packages.

Forgotten to mention that me and a colleague go to summer festivals July & August and offer TFM/Reflexology with a lemon/lime footbath for those dirty festie feet! After two years of this service, only one person complained that they wasn't bothered about the footbath - you can't please everyone! Thank goodness that everyone else did like it.

We hopefully be at Shambala and Womad festivals this year.

I offer both full, and mini treatments i.e. 15 minute treatments, where massage and IHM is always popular. I'm not sure if this would be. I'm sure it would.

Can I ask what do you need to do it? I don't have to invest in a reflexology chair do I?

thai massage is done on the floor or on a massage couch.

Massage training is sufficient. I think it would go down a storm at pamper parties, I used to do parties all the time.

I do workshops at Yeadon, Leeds.

I do my clients treatments of Thai Foot massage on a couch too or the floor, perfect for pamper evenings or holistic fairs, i have also had a few come for treatments also. I offer the diploma courses and this is taught on a couch along side a hand massage also. Thanks Sarah
