Hi Everyone - greetings from Spain - hope this post finds you all well and happy. 😉
I will be doing my ITEC Swedish Massage Practical exam this Friday and I am hoping that someone can give me some tips.
What format does the exam take? Does everyone do a full body massage, or does the examiner give each student a different part of the body to massage?
I believe that the examiner will go around asking the students questions while they are massaging (yikes!) - what kind of questions do they ask?
I would be really grateful for any advice - my fellow students and I are getting quite nervous about the whole thing.
Thanks a lot,
Sue x

RE: Help Please?! ITEC Swedish Massage Practical Exam
Hi Sue
I am doing mine on Wednesday and equally nervous!
Do you have an assessment book? as the criteria is outlined in there. Also I am doing a full body massage and have to go through the whole consultation with the client.
Some questions that we were given are:
What would limit the massage
Have you identified any contra-indications
What movement are you doing and what are the effects.
How have you adapted the massage for your client
What medium are you using and why?
Hope that helps - I have been revising this weekend so I don't forget, plus you have to be assessed without your notes - so practice!

Hi Sue,
I did mine two weeks ago. We only did the following routine. Client face up: left arm, right leg, abdomen, head & neck; roll over, back of right leg and back; finished. 45 mins. (i don't think they ask for the whole body.
The question they ask are "light", ie if you can pass A&P you should be well grand. If you don't know there and then say it and tell examiner later, they expect you to be phased.
"Looking" lke you know what you are doing is important; pay attention to posture, flowing movement, towel management etc. Above all, get client on the table, get ready and then take a few seconds to CHILL and then just enjoy it.
These ppl LOVE massage, they want to see you loving it too, and it shows when you do.
Good luck and enjoy

J.mmm - showing that I like doing massage will be easy because I do really like my new career move - remembering absolutely anything from anatomy - well that isa whole other story ... ha ha.
See you both around,
