Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any agencies in London that deal with Spa Massage jobs. I have found it impossible to find anything on job sites. Every time something looks promising it turns out to be an advert for either massage courses or therapy room rental? I really no longer want to carry on in my full time job, so thought that a spa job would be a good place to start until i build up a client base.

Thanks x

Hiya, think of a few spas that you would like to work and have a look at their websites. Also try looking at some of the larger London hotels as they generally have spas. Working in a spa is good way to build your skills but it will be hard work and the pay isn't great. A friend of mine is going to be doing some casual massage work at a London hotel and she'll be paid £8 per hour plus 10% commision. I think they charge clients about £80 for a 1 hour massage.

Good luck

Hi! Caterer.com has job adverts for hotel spa work, also check out Job is Job. I found that most of these places will advertise for Massage Therapist but more often then not they want someone who is trained in Level 3 Beauty Therapy. Beauty Therapy jobs seem more plentiful as opposed to just Massage Therapist. Good luck job hunting! 🙂

Many Thanks for the replies. I have since managed to start getting my own clients, 7 last week. Some were 1 hr, some 1.5. I earned £475 for slightly more than 10 hours. YAY. I am so shocked at how much massage therapists get at Spa's etc. That is shocking. The usual greedy capitalism I am trying to escape.

Congratulations, Darryl on getting those 7 clients, you're doing something right! Yes, spas work thereapists hard and pay very little, but they are a great way to get experience. The only thing that might be an issue is that they usually want therapists to be trained in all of the therapies, like facials, body treatments and manicures / pedicure if the spa offers them.

I noticed that you started this thread in the Swedish Massage subforum. Are you experienced in other types of massage too?
