Is the course inmodules?Have you just donethe advanced course? 3 daysseems very quick.Did the tutor give you access to past papers, which would give you some idea of what the exam might comprise? One of the Mods might be able to give you a link to one of the old threads, about exam questions. Keep practising - it will all click into place - honest!

RE: VCTC Sports therapy massage

hello there!
the course is four days, ive done three, then you go off and do all the work, you can do it in three months or up to three years, it's up to you. then you return for one day, practical and exam. it's a years course squashed into three days. the tutors are there if you need guidance, i dont think they'd apprieciate me asking them for past exam papers, that why i thought i'd try here. i usually go to bits in exam situations and everything swims around my head!:(
i should have done this over a year really, i've got LOADS to learn.
i really wish you could buy a set of c'd's, learn sports therapy in a week, like you can french!:D
thanks for your support!

RE: VCTC Sports therapy massage

Hi,
As a sports therapist who has completed over 200 hours sports massage training, over 500 hours sports therapy training at higher national diploma level and over 6 years fitness industry experience, 12 years of sports coaching, and years of clinical experience I am suprised that this subject should even be attempted to be taught in 3 or 4 days, even if they are 24hrs per day its less than 100 hours total, The only hope we have as a profession is that IF state regulation occurs, we should at least have some standards of training that every training provider has to meet.
I sympathise with your situation and bear no ill feeling towards you personally, I feel the system is to blame.
Best of luck with your studies and exams.

wow! bowled over by what you have done! i do wish i'd have taken the course over a longer period of time as there is soooooooooooo much to learn, the vctc requires only 30 hrs of practical, the tutor felt that 40 would give us a wider experience, when i hit 40 im going to contiue clinical practise up until igainthe qualification. i can truly see your point! thanks.
since taking the course i have heardpeople saying that vctc is not held in high regard.

Hi Lynnibear,
The positive attitude you show regarding your continuing development will hold you in good stead whilst persuing your career, you can always take a longer course now that you know that you enjoy this industry.
I read a signature on this forum which said something like
" Ive learned so much from making mistakes. that I think I'm going to make another" how true this seems sometimes.

Best wishes for your continuing education whatever you decide.
Regards
GAz

RE: VCTC Sports therapy massage

I just started on the VTCT Sports Massage course today. It's a 36 week course / 3 hours per week. I think we have to do 5 treatments each on 3 case study clients plus at least 40 hours documented work on external clients.

According to our tutor there have been quite a few changes to the VTCT course this year plus it will be recognised by the SMA.

Hi I think that if SMA are going to regognise this course it is a case that they are trying to increase their membership for one reason or other, there have been various threads about this subject, and other related subjects which you mey like to read thru, they regard things such as working titles if sports therapy is regulated , the value of level 3/4/5 courses etc
but if unsure get details from SMA website or from your course tutor
