Hi everyone

i've been reading through the posts and noted that ITEC does not seem to be very well thought of. I did my Holistic Massage through ITEC and thought the course and my tutor was fantastic. I've recently done the ITECSports Therapy and was a little disappointed as it did not live up to my expectations. The examination questions seem more intent to catch you out than actually test the depth of your knowledge. I am thinking of supplementing it with another course, has anyone got any experience of the manipulative therapy courses held at the Midland School of Massage in Nottingham?

Also, I want to do aromatherapy, but not sure about whether to stick to ITEC. Is it best to keep with the same examining board, or should I venture out somewhere else?

Any advice would be welcome? Also, (while I am here), how do you get involved in pre and post event massage at sporting events? Is there some kind of register?

Kimbo

RE: Sports Massage Courses

I initially did ITEC sports massage too and as you can tell from my previous postings was thoroughly disappointed!

If you become a member of the Sports Therapy Organisation they organise event massage. Recently they have done London Marathon, and some smaller events and I think the next big one is Great North Run.

Their details are:

RE: Sports Massage Courses

Hi Kimbo,
I too am member of STO and have lots of contact about event massage, the STO recently took about 20 therapists to EXCEL in london for the london marathon and are currently seeking people for Great North Run, they recently did the student run in leeds amonst others, try visiting the ACTIVE HEALTH GROUP website and spend a bit looking thru' as ther is lots of information about courses and has a forum for questions aswell.
Best of luck, but please consider or seek advice about the future of sports massage/ sports therapy before you decideas previous threads have been discussing the likelyhood of people having to change titles etc and not being able to work as sports/mass/ther.
regards
Gaz
