Hi there,

I'm new to this forum. I currently live abroad but in the New Year i would like to attend this course at the School of Natural Therapies in London.

Clinical Sports & Remedial Massage Course Level 5 (BTEC)

I just wanted to ask if anyone is familiar with this School and could give me any advice on this particular course? Is it any good or should i look further.
Also I have got a Dutch Diploma massage and beautician level 3 and i'm trying to find out what's the best Course for me to take next since i really would like to work as an sports and holistic MT. Is it possible to do business in London with these therapies. I'm cruising the Internet for answers on starting Your own massage business in London and i read the competition is high and a lot of negative posts being a masseur at the moment. Any help or information is very welcome.
Thank You!!:)

Hi

There is a lot of MT's around in the UK. Not all good though. A level 5 course would give you an edge over the competition. Having said that, it isn't always the qualification level that makes someone sucessful, it's also your interpersonal skills and having the "balls" to succeed in business.

There is always need for good massage therapists and bodyworkers. Good quality treatments with skillful intent is always in vogue, especially if you can be solution-focused. But for therapists in general (depending what you do and where you are doing it), there is an economic down turn and it's getting harder to fill the day up with appointments.

Very few people make mega-bucks ££££$$$$$EurEurEurEur from massage and bodywork, so depends on how much you need to live on, what effort you are prepared to put into it, and your physical health.

Best wishes

RP

Thank You Reiki Pixie!

Thank You Reiki Pixie for Your answer. I'm not really sure yet what school to attend but i was very curious about this one. i'm very motivated and have an open and hands on mentality and no intention to get rich (just as long as I can pay the bills :o)) Really just want to help people and develop my skills.
Thank you!:)

IMO there are better courses for similar prices, i personally found S&R massage quite limiting and went on to do a full advanced diploma in sports therapy which suits my needs much better. ive worked in this industry as an assessor for this qualification for several years and found huge variences in the quality of teaching and delivery from the schools, some delivering in less than half the guided learning hours

Aha, Thank You!!

Hi there biggazfromlincoln and thank You for the reply on my question!
Would it be possible for You to recommend me a same type of training school that is also quite similar financially or cheaper and maybe more advanced. I'll be living in Westminster.
I've been searching the web but and finding it very hard to make up my mind. You see the thing is my qualifications are Dutch and i really don't want to learn too many unnecessary extra's that i've been trained in already. Not being arrogant because i really think it's good to refresh the study in English language but .. I think you know what i mean. Never had SM so with that i'll have to start from scratch of course. Thing is i had Anatomy and all these things on level 3 already but we have a different licence system then in the UK. I would just like to start at level 3 or 4 Itec Holistic and Anatomy and a thorough SM Btec. If You have any hints for me please can you drop me a line/idea?
Even been thinking about doing a Canine Massage Course because of maybe better opportunities and more options. Love animals too.
Thank You in advance and thank You for replying!!:)

kind regards,

you can either have cheaper or higher level Im afraid, I know Active Health Group are delivering courses in London in 2013 and from assessing at their school I know they have students with foreign qualifications, they also have ITEC as piggy back qualification on their diploma in sports therapy so might be worth a look, If I were having my time over again I would go straight for the highest level course I could financially afford, would have saved thousands on subsequesnt training.
