Hello,
I am doing my ITEC Holistic Massage diploma at the moment and hope to eventually take my massage career in a more medical/clinical/hospice/caring typedirection (the ideas are still brewing!). I have just this weekend been on a CPD specialised course for massage in palliative and supportive care which was great. However I am hungry to learn more and would like a further qualification in this area. I know that there are a lot of Sports and Remedial massage courses out there but it is more the remedial side that I am interested in and gather that a lot of these sports courses have a lot less emphasis on the remedial part. Has anyone been on a course that majors on remedial care or got any ideas of where I should be looking?
Any ideas and advice around this subject would be great.
Thanks - Jen
RE: Remedial Massage Courses
Hi Jen,
have a look at the Active Health Group website. If you cant find it, have a look for any postings on here by 'sportstherapy' as the link is on his postings.
I did their course, and its crammed full of remedial massage techniques. They are now accredited at level 4 sports & remedial massage diploma, and also a level 5 advanced sports & remedial massage diploma.
I initially did ITEC sports massage (pants) and then looked for others, and I have to say that some of the so called 'remedial massage' courses are glorified body massage courses, thats why I like the Active one because they cover techniques that can actually treat problems. The closest I found to it was the London School of Sports Massage, but even they only cover 2 remedial techniques, and I think I covered 5 on mine.
Its worth really researching, as I did, because these types of courses can be quite expensive!
RE: Remedial Massage Courses
Thanks very much for your helpful information.I will certainly have a good at the active Health group website, it sounds just like whatI am looking for. It is also good to know that you thought the ITEC Sports course wasn't so good as that was one of my considerations. Cheers. Jen
