I am using my 6 month pregnant sister as one of my ITEC Holistic Massage case studies, which has been approved as ok by my college. I understand that I should not massage the stomach or heel area, or have her lie flat on her tummy or back. Is there anything else that I absolutely cannot do. I don't want to use her as a guinea pig without checking that I have confirmed what not to do! Thank you
RE: Pregnancy Massage of sister
Hi
My daughter is pregnant and has regular massages from me - which she finds very relaxing and helpful with those pregnancy related pains that seem to spring up especially around her lower back. The main thing we ensure is that the massage medium is neutral and does not conatin any essential oils etc. We have found the safest way is just to use a pure carrier oil and not a packaged product. So many of the basic oils commercially available have small amounts of essential oils in them that are best avoided.
Best of luck to you in your studies and your sister with her pregnancy - does she know what "flavour" the baby is yet. We are expecting a granddaughter.

I was planning on using Almond Oil, will that be ok?
RE: Pregnancy Massage of sister
Hi Libby
whilst massage in pregnancy is wonderful I am actually suprised that the college has
said it is ok to use your sister as a case study - more importantly has her midwife been consulted.
I would also recommend you use a more neuteral oil carrier oil such as organic sunflower oil rather than almond oil

I tend to use grapeseed. When I did my VTCT we had a number of clients coming in who were pregnant plus one of the girls on the course as well. Could be something in it !
