Hi there
I am currently doing my ITEC Lymphatic Drainage course, and one of the questions that is apparently asked during the practical exam is why the head and neck are treated before any other part of the body. Anyone know why this is?
It should be part of the course theory notes.
I would have thought it is because they drain into the subclavian lymphatic nodes and duct...

This is simple. You know how lymph flow. So start always from end-point of chain.
So, answering your questing, you start from the point of return of lymph flow to blood stream. So, this is not the head and this is not the neck. For example, for right lymphatic duct, You start first unblocking area of right subclavian vein. So, this can be considered as base of the neck ....
Do not forget that you have 2 main lymphatic ducts....

Starting unblocking from end-points of lymph system allow you to make drainage. If they are not unblocked then you can do everything you want but it will be useless....
For successful treatments use your knowledge of anatomy - this is the only key you have in you hands
