Hi there!
Just a question:
I had a client for MLD and she just started her period. I heard that lymph.drainage is not recommended while menstruating...
Can somebody explain why? Or if it's ok (I didn't do her abdomen though...)
Thank you muchly for any suggestions you might have 😉
Love & hugs to all of you xxx
MLD during early days of menstruation can make the client flood, which really isn't pleasant for the client. It's ok towards the end of the period, but still avoid the abdomen.
This should have been covered in your training.

Agree with FB - it can provoke increased bleeding. Should have been mentioned during course work.
Thank you FB&Jabba
I actually did mention to her before the treatment that she might be bleeding more - although I wasn't 100% sure ...:033:
Is there any other reason to avoid MLD during period or this is it (if the client doesn't have any other contraindications...)?
Thank you again muchly xxx
Are you using MLD for anything in particular or simple relaxation? If relaxation, just avoid abs whilst she has her period.
Thanks Jabba
- she had swollen legs (quite skinny girl otherwise) for few years now and already tried Lymph.drain. but with those specific machines...to no avail.
- as I said I did avoid her abdomen, but thought as working on inguinal nodes it might effect anyway... 🙁 Will see what she'll say next time she sees me (hope she will :027:)
Warmest wishes xxx
Hi Janulique - it may be a good idea to recommend that your client gets a definitive diagnosis about the swollen legs. If she has any form of lymphoedema it should be referred onto a lymphoedema therapist.
