Hello everyone!

I am currently training in Holistic massage therapies to progress later this year in Sports massage.

A Reiki practitioner suggested to me that I should envision a white light energy field around myself to prevent negative energies from my clients being absorbed into my body, which could reduce my positive energy and make me unwell. He didn't have time to fully explain what he did to envision this energy field around his body.

Some years ago I attended a year course in Spirit and Philosophy with Trackways and I am aware of using white light energy as a means of healing but nothing was mentioned about the possibility receiving negative energy in returned on the course, probably because we had the protection from the white light anyway.

I would value your recommendations and advice from any other practitioner who uses energy fields to keep negative energies at bay when giving massage or other forms of therapy.

As a light worker I am aware I can pick up negative energies in almost any face to face situation. It is standard advice to erect 'psychic protection' in the form of light on a regular basis.

I think it is mainly personal preference whether and how you protect yourself . Not everyone is comfortable with the idea of visualisation, some use crystals , others use prayer. I think it is up to each practitioner to decide when such protection may be useful and how they wish to do it

Hi Tashanie and Thank You for your advice,

As you say, it is probably a personal thing as we all have different perceptions of our own protection levels. I never previously gave it any thought since begining my Holistic massage therapies as I have always felt spiritually strong and protected.....and in hindsight, something I should nurture and not take for granted in my future training.

Love, light and peace

hi Ravenscout as you say you feel "spritually strong and protected" that is more than enough. You are more than protected in that.
Fear and judgement at the root that gets "negative energies" of other people to you."The other is negative and I am so bloody positive" It seems to say! I find that amusing.
Deep sense of mine - thine drains you, nobody or their energy can drain you if you worked as though the other is pure consciousness too. It is One. The game of energy can only be played from one consciousness not from perspective of appearances. Then there is no one positive, negative, high low - just leela (play) of consciousness. In that no one to protect against the other. There is only one.

Energy work itself is not enough unto itself. A deep understanding of nature of energy and how it works should also be part of curriculum.

Hi jnani!

Thank You also for your advice and wisdom. I think I understand the concept of what you are saying and will read your words again for greater understanding.

I think what Ruby is saying, to put it simply, is that if you fear you can be attacked by negative energies, then you are likely to be, yet if you know that negative energies cannot effect you then you are already protected... no need for some 3rd party protection by envisaging anything around you.

It works for me anyway.

😉

Thank You for your explanation too Giles.

It is reassuring for novice body worker such as myself, to know that experienced practitioners such as Ruby, Sally and yourself can provide guidance and wisdom in such matters.

I have just completed the assignments for my Unit 348 module today for Principles and Practice of Complimentary Therapies. You may be pleased to know that I chose Reiki as one of my four choices :0)

I must say I enjoyed doing the research and have a greater understanding and appreciation of your craft. I was even more surprised to learn that some of the teaching I have already experienced from attending a Spirit and Philosophy course some years ago now, was very similar to Reiki, for which I do owe my spiritual awakening and awareness. You may be surprised to know that the skills I was introduced to were handed down from Native American Philosophy. Maybe you are not surprised?

I think I recall you saying before that you received teaching from native american philosophy. Also the use of "raven" in your name kind of makes me think of that too, by association. 🙂

Be careful – I’ve known people attempting shamanism (and I can’t see any reason that it would be different for any other method of working) who have used white light for ‘protection’ and who have been so successful that no spirits or energy can get through it. Including ‘healing energy’.
Besides, what is this ‘negative energy’?
