Hi,
Im currently studying holistic massage and one of my potential case studies has no spleen. it was removed after a car accident. she is supposed to take penicillen but tells me she only takes it when there are a lot of bugs going about as it makes her pee smell bad.
She only wants a leg massage for tight calves so is this a contraindication in anyway?
If it is why?
If its not then is there anything i should be aware of. Can you massage the area if i were doing a full body and what are the effects of massage for a person with no spleen.
Thanks
kelly!
Hi Kelly
Welcome to Hp
I can't see how massage would be contraindicated by a spleen removal, apart from if the op was done recently.
If fact I would consider it benefical as regular massage helps the immune system 🙂
Best wishes
RP
No problem treating her at all, would you treat someone who had a lung missing, or who had had a hysterectomy or their tonsils removed? Go for it, hope she enjoys her massage and that her legs feel amazing afterwards.
